"I'm clocked out, baby"🕙
The Clocktown Brewing Company, a hidden gem and a paradise for craft beer geeks and wood-fired pizza connoisseurs, is located in the old historic Seth Thomas Clock Factory Building in Thomaston, Connecticut.
Clockmaking was the economic foundation of Thomaston from 1813 through World War I, and all the way into the 1970's. Thanks to the keen business sense of Seth Thomas (1785-1859), the founder of the company, who was also a pioneer of early industrial mass production, the Seth Thomas brand clocks became the pride of the town. They were well sought after all over the world; peak of production was reached from 1886 to 1926, even after the death of the company's founder. 🕙
Clocktown Brewing Company 🍻🍺 came into existence in 2020, by pushing through a forbidding pandemic, and by gutting out one of the hundred- year -old cavernous brick structures which belonged the old Seth Thomas Clock Factory 🏭. The astounding results are a lively taproom, which serves on-site produced brews with time or clock-themed names, spacious indoor and outdoor seating, and a state of the art wood -burning pizza oven. 🍕
As if in honor of the long history of craftsmanship in Thomaston, the craft beer and food at the Clocktown Brewing Company excel in quality, precision of preparation, delivery and taste. A team of experienced 🦊🦊 tried the custom made autumn special wood- fired pizza. It consisted of thin to medium crispy New Haven-style crust, topped with sweet Italian sausage, rosemary🌱, sage, caramelized onions🧅, fontina cheese 🧀 and roasted pumpkin 🎃. It was unbelievably delicious and surprisigly, all flavors worked so well together when baked to perfection. ( See photo below)
And what kind of beer would compliment these rich flavors? Amazingly enough, the Clocktown Brewing Company's own Chocolate Factory chocolate 🍫 stout- a smooth and velvety delight at 7% ABV, brewed in collaboration with the New England Railroad Museum and a local chocolate maker!
