God will provide, but we have to do our part as well.
🌱 It's the start of the growing season. Every spring, my mind gets wrapped up on what to plant and how much to plant. The anticipation for the growing season just wells up inside me, and the excitement is almost more than I can contain.
This land God has allowed us to own provides the food we eat during the year. It gives us a little extra income. And it gives us a teaching experience for Jackson. These days are so uncertain. We don't know for a fact that the grocery store will have the foods we need next week.
Being able to teach Jackson at a young age how to manage a garden, when to harvest, and how to prepare it - I pray that is something that will stick with him throughout his life. Sure, to some, we are taking the long way around. But honestly, we don't know what the future holds. The best thing we can do is be prepared for anything that might come our way. We need to make sure we have some food stocked up. Because the grocery stores could be closed tomorrow. Or their system could be down, and they cannot sell anything to anyone. Then what? You have a buggy full of groceries, and you can't pay for it, at no fault of your own. We are all at someone else's mercy when we aren't prepared. I'd rather have a little bit of food put up, so my family, and our neighbors could benefit, rather than be waiting in line at Walmart wondering how I'm going to get food home to my family.
Proverbs 21:20 NIV says: "The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down." I believe God has given us the want to save things up so we are prepared and so we can also be His hands and feet when needed by giving to those who truly are in need.
Happy growing season, y'all! Now, let's plant a garden. 🌱
