Chipwiches are back! We had quite a bit of freight come in yesterday. We also had a lot of help including the usual suspects, Lloyd, Kathie, Donna, Charlie, two Rachels, Lee, and Sally. We are so appreciative of the help we receive to ensure the shelves are stocked well. The store is open from noon until six today.

The store will be open from 10:30 until six this Saturday and from 11-2 this Sunday. Don’t forget that Abigail is opening the Lunch Pail on Sunday from 4:30 until 7:30. We will begin new hours on Monday with the store being open noon-six Monday through Saturday and 11-2 on Sundays.

As you can imagine, keeping a store six miles out in the ocean well stocked can be a challenge. There are so many things out of our control, and even getting a distributor to deliver to Stonington can be difficult. This past week, we made three orders with our primary grocery distributor and received about a third of it. It is anxiety-inducing to know you need things in the store, but are largely at the mercy of your distributors.

But this is a positive post, because one of the things we learned during the pandemic is how much the cooperative community is supportive of each other. No one has lived up to this standard as much as the Blue Hill Co-op and Chris Curo, the grocery store manager. Chris has made it possible for our small store to order cases of anything that is in the co-op. If there is something that you'd like for us to carry here, don't hesitate to ask, and if you see Chris, thank him for supporting our community and our store.
