Farm fact Friday! We get asked all the time if we use seeds from our pumpkins for planting - and the answer is yes and no! Pumpkins and squash all belong to the same family, cucurbita pepo, which means they can cross pollinate. If we saved seeds from our best pumpkin and replanted them the following season, we would end up growing a mutant pumpkin/gourd mix! So while we do grow some of these (and end up with super fun gourds and funky pumpkins!) we also buy new seeds every year to make sure that we have the perfect pumpkins for Jack-o-lanterns 🎃
