The Lobster mushroom (Hypomyces lactifluorum) is a delicious mushroom with a mild flavor and a firm texture. It is parasitic fungus that grows on certain species of mushrooms, turning their out surface a reddish orange color that resembles the shell of a cooked lobster.

Two of my favorite mushrooms, Golden Chanterelles and Black Trumpets are making a solid appearance. It’s time to check your spots or go look for some! Chanterelles have a bright egg yolk colored cap that stands out against the Forest floor while Black Trumpets blend in among the leaves and moss.
