Fresh from the oven and headed to Candor! 🍞☀️

Bernside Bakery will be at the Candor, NY Farmers Market this Thursday, 6/18, from 3:30pm to 6:30pm with fresh organic, stoneground sourdough bread plus a few other treats baked just for you.

Come hungry. There’s live music, food trucks, and a great lineup of local vendors all afternoon. Grab a loaf, grab a bite, and stay for the music. See you there! 🎶🚚

Yesterday, we learned how to inoculate shiitake mushroom logs at . We had a fun morning with some great neighbors and got to take a few inoculated logs home in exchange for our labor. Jonathan brought some freshly baked sourdough and we tried hickory oil, which we didn’t know existed before but was delicious. This is the 15th year they’ve hosted these inoculation events and they have a few more days planned if you’re interested. Longer video on our YouTube page.

Free outdoor community yoga is coming to Danby🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️

Sundays this summer at 10:30 am, through September 13th, 2026, we’ll be gathering at Danby Food & Drink for weekly classes designed to be gentle, grounding, and beginner-friendly.

If you can sit cross-legged or be on your hands and knees comfortably, you’re ready for this class.

Each class draws from traditional yoga practices in a way that’s approachable for modern life — expect breath work, movement, and meditation in a relaxed outdoor setting.

What to bring:
- Yoga mat
- Yoga blocks (highly recommended for support and comfort)
- Towel or blanket (good if you have sensitive knees)
- Yoga strap or long belt
- Water bottle, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
- Anything to make you more comfortable on the ground

We have 4 yoga mats and 3 sets of yoga blocks available to borrow if you don’t have the props.

Your teacher, Sheila Sidhu (RYT 200), is new to the Danby community and new to teaching yoga. We may have other volunteer teachers participate as well! Stay tuned.

Classes are free and open to all. A tip jar and Venmo will be available for those who’d like to show support to the teachers. 🙏

Ithaca, NY, is home to Namgyal Monastery and the Institute for Buddhist Studies. This is the North American seat and personal monastery of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

I am a new volunteer in the library, which is open to the public:
Wednesday- Friday: 10:30 am - 4:30 pm
Saturday: 10:30 am - 1:30 pm

There’s also meditation hours open to the public in the monastery (building at the top of the property) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:15 - 6 pm.
