It has been a LONG time since we posted any content. Dealing with grief takes over in so many things sometimes. For me, as a GenX, the first thing I draw away from is social media. That said today is a good day so far and I'm determined to keep it on that standing so it's going to be a lot of farm therapy!

It's my adopted daughter's wedding week and I'm so excited to be here with her during this time! I'm so proud of the young woman she is and the woman she's continually growing into. I adore her soon-to-be husband, Nick. He's a wonderful man that I've always prayed would find her in this world!

To the love of my life Mr. Bot. I don't want to much but the only thing I do.... I want you.

Two years almost to the day when we were first reunited in Mississippi before bringing you home to Texas and you're gone. Kidney failure. It's been 2 days and I don't really know how to think of our herd without you in it still. Maybe in time I'll be able to see it more clearly without the haze of grief, or possibly I won't, either way I'll forever love you, remember you, but I'm grateful you're no longer in pain.

I'm grateful you survived your miscarriage in 2025 too become a mother in 2026 with my pals, Alicia and Frank of Anam Cara Farms, and my local friend and photographer Sindi on hand for the birth of your gorgeous twins!

I'm grateful that you welcomed all new babies into our herd with quiet patience and gentle understanding. I'm grateful that you were even up to your final hours you tried to fight to stay with though we both knew your time left was short. You were fighting to prevent my heart shattering. I love you more than you'd ever really know, more than words could ever have summed up, more than almost anything.

Goodbye my sweet girl and if the heavens are kind one day I'll see you again and I'll love you more then than I ever did this time around.

Ok, so to clarify, there are 2 does running together with each having a single baby. Like goats deer can have multiple but it's fairly rare in the wild that 2 fawn will make it to maturity. It's just too much of a physical burden on the mother so if one is even slightly weaker does will abandon the weaker so she can make it to the following breeding season.

We have at least 1 stag on our slice of heaven and minimally I've seen 4 distinct does and 2 fawn. We keep some areas tall so these babies and their mothers have the opportunity to grow up in a safe and chemical free area. With goats you never need to worry about weeds because they love them. Choosing to not use chemicals, choosing to mow in certain areas to keep a bit of the wild space is what helps maintain ecosystems and we NEED these ecosystems.

I am Chippewa and Cherokee and I grew up learning that the balance of nature comes first. It's Creator's design that we should find balance and harmony. It's central to our culture to give back to nature and honor Creator's blessings on our land no matter where we live out our lives.

This morning started rough with a call from my local buddy that bought chickens from me that the dogs that killed her first flock, killed the flock I sold her. It truly breaks my heart and I've spent several hours just trying to console her and help get her place cleaned up again. Coming home to see these beautiful mothers with their stunning babes was exactly what my heart needed. To be able to come back home to such a peaceful wonder has me rejoicing with my Creator's blessings on my farm.

Walking with nature, with Creator, with purpose and intention of honoring the land's bounty is a thing indigenous people live for. It's surely what I love for. It nurtures me back to health with every step, with every breathe, and enforces my values and people's teachings. It truly does cause my heart to overflow with happiness and peace.

No matter where you live, what our how you believe, it's my hope you find peace and joy in your life today. Live simply, live humbly, live free, and live in peace.
