Starter fed, burger rolls rising and chicken roasting 😉 We're Starting the new year with hands on meal prep! Next up is burger patties from our local farm friends! Chicken soup to ward off colds creeping and bone broth from the scraps!

What you don't see or partially see is the mess of help and home reset beginning! Usually we do our house reset in February but we have other plans for then 😉😉

A fun spin on pizza night! Since our youngest is allergic to dairy, eggs and nuts, ordering pizza has been challenging (amongst other things). Once I wrapped my head around his allergies and now think of him as our vegan meat eater, it's not so scary 😆

Tonight, following our sourdough trend, we made same day sourdough 🍕 with homemade pizza sauce and it was delicious!

What does everyone do with their decorated pumpkins from Halloween??

I'll tell you what we do! We process them into delicious puree for pumpkin pie, pumpkin dutch babies, or we just eat them straight from the oven 😆

If you want to make it even more fun, pierce three holes in the shape of a face and let the oven make them spooky 🎃

Today, we baked them in bacon grease 🤤

Don't waste those seeds either!! If you boil the seeds before sticking them in the oven, they come out perfect! (Thank you Grandma for that tip!)

We talked about vernal pools and amphibians last year in our nature class! This looks like a fun event to learn more about it!

Join the River Raisin Watershed Council on an exciting exploration of the fascinating world of amphibians and vernal pools! This program is designed to engage nature enthusiasts of all ages!

A interpretive nature walk will be led by experienced educators. Participants will embark on a guided journey to learn about the unique characteristics of vernal pools and their vital role in supporting amphibian populations. Discover the diverse array of frogs, toads, salamanders, and other creatures that call these pools home.

The program will also include nature related activities and games and conclude with nature journaling to preserve the information we learned during the program.
