This weekend brought some order to the Horvii Ranch! Thanks to Mema and Papa for the giant chicken coop and to the Johnson family for helping corral our free range chickens, we now have ladies laying where they are supposed to and safe from predators!

There were other projects started, like Elderberry harvesting! And meat chicken paddock building! It’s so exciting to see the harvest of our labor!

Moving on to today 🤪 Monday was the Mondayist Monday for these boys, even though we had a soft start to bookwork a good two weeks or so ago. God forbid I ask them to write 20 spelling words 🙃 We did have some awesome visitors today though! A toad, a tree frog AND a stick bug!!

Wins include:
- Curriculum opened and familiar
- Preschool table kept the youngers busy
- one on one with each boy
- Accident free Two year old! (And puppy today!)
- Time outside
-5 unbroken eggs from our ladies today!

Despite the many meltdowns, missed nap and postponed chores.. it was a decent transition into hard start of homeschooling.

Advice from Horvii Ranch:

🐸Don’t expect things to go perfectly, adapt and overcome while embracing God’s grace.

🐸Having a community and asking for help, training your children to take on responsibilities and having an amazing spouse who you can communicate goals and be a team with is such a blessing! You cant take over the world on your own 😉

We’re coming up on 9 years at Horvii Ranch!! Homeschooling 7 years now and I feel like we’re actually on to something good! We’ve established our homestead, our boys are old enough to take on some of the responsibilities (with pride might I add!) and we’re utilizing Chat GPT to help post our rhythm and goals! It helps to have visuals!

These past two years have been full of growth, testing our resilience, our faith and realizing how blessed we are!. We’ve had highs and lows but we’ve changed a lot of our expectations when it comes to homeschooling and homesteading. Baby steps, small achievements that chunk to the big goal has been a big thing we’ve learned. We’ve also found a great classical school to connect our homeschooling with and it has been a game changer.

Now this year we have a 4th grader, 3rd grader, 1st grader, a want to be Kindergartener, preschooler and baby on the way! We’ve also welcomed an Australian shepherd (12weeks) along with our homestead of ducks, laying hens and meat chickens. Instead of treating it all as separate entities, we’re intertwining it into daily rhythm (more of a perception than action).
