In 1966, upon prohibition’s repeal and the end of the notorious bootlegger’s era of the Gold Coast, C. “Kats” Katsaboulas established Kats Wine & Spirits as Mississippi’s first legal wine and spirits shop. In the early 70s, Kats moved a short distance to Fortification Street, across from the historic Jitney 14 (now McDade’s) in the Greater Belhaven neighborhood, where it remains today. Kats’ sons

continue the tradition by providing unmatched services and Mississippi’s most value-packed inventory. The reviews posted on nearly all of the store’s hard-to-find, special-order, and critically acclaimed wines display the highest concentration of 90+ point wines for under $20 in the State. This renowned inventory has made Kats Wine & Spirits Mississippi’s destination wine and spirits store for more than 45 years.
