Taste & See Foods & Sweets

Located in downtown Selmer, TN

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place, but never tried it until this weekend. Let me tell you, I’ve been missing out on some great local food! Natalie has been wanting wings for a couple weeks but my schedule has been a little crazy. I saw that Nana’s Taste and See had some so…..I had to taste and see what they were all about!

I ordered the mango habanero which is usually my go to flavor. Natalie got the honey bbq. These are bone in wings only, no nuggets here (although I love some good boneless wings). I took the food to my truck and made a block before I realized I forgot to ask for ranch. When I came back out after getting the ranch, my truck was full of some dang good smells. I almost tore into the box before I made it back home.

These wings are huge! I was worried about their size since I hadn’t ever ordered here but I was greatly surprised. These were cooked well and the flavor hit just right! There was some slight heat with mine and sweetness that paired well just as this flavor should. Natalie’s honey bbq also had great flavor and were sweet and tangy. These wings come by themselves or with fries so we both did a fry combo. The fries were just fries. I sometimes feel like a fry snob, but I love some nicely cooked home fries when restaurants have them.

I will definitely be back soon. I’m already craving another plate of wings.

Jackson’s first First Watch is now serving at the former Red Robin, 1025 Vann Drive in The Columns.

The national daytime café is open for made-to-order breakfast, brunch, and lunch, typically 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect the usual lineup: Million Dollar Bacon, fresh juices, lemon ricotta pancakes, avocado toast, omelets, and seasonal specials.

It’s the first First Watch in Jackson, filling a busy spot across from Raising Cane’s and Books-A-Million.

Alright guys. Here it is. The BLUEBERRY FRITTER from Sarivongs Donuts! Never in my life have I seen these. I thought we were stretching the limit with strawberry because apple was such the staple in a fritter. Then I get told they’re doing a blueberry soon. I tried for a week to get there in time and this morning I made it thanks to the wonderful owners.

These things are so good. I still can’t get over the size of them. The blueberry comes through well enough to not overpower the classic taste of the fritter itself and that’s what I love about them so much. If you want a packed blueberry taste then maybe go for a regular blueberry donut. If you want a good mix of the two, pick up one or two or half a dozen of these.

I’m torn between which flavor I like the most. Apple, strawberry, blueberry, man it’s a close battle. I might have to try a few more just to be on the safe side 😂

Sarivongs Donuts

Peanut Butter and Jelly along with a Dubai donut

The PB&J had a decent peanut butter flavor and the jelly paired well with it. My only issue is this is not an eat and drive donut. This is definitely a sit at the table donut. The jelly ran into the center and came out of the hole almost immediately. Their PB&J donut holes would probably work better if you’re getting these on the run.

The Dubai had a nice flavor. This was a well put together donut for sure. If you’re following along with the Dubai craze, grab one of these if they are still available!

My next review will be a blueberry fritter and I’m so excited for that one! I just have to get by to grab one!

Raising Cane’s has been a big hit to North Jackson since their opening day. I’ve seen double lines through the drive-thru ever since. I’ve been twice and have waited no more than 10 mins for fresh, hot food! Have you been yet?
