An update we aren’t happy to share:
Last night, what we assume is a neighbor’s dog ravaged our flock.
We are missing at least 3 roosters and around 20 mature laying hens. It happened in broad daylight, the kids and I were out with the flock playing with bubbles and running around and then not even 2 hours later I went out to lock everybody up for the night and it was bodies and feather piles everywhere. The bodies were not eaten, they appeared chased and unalived for sport.
This is a huge financial loss, productivity loss, and honestly emotional loss. Completely unnecessary.
We will still have eggs, but until this years babies get to laying age, not as much as we did have. Sorry for the inconvenience. With livestock comes dead stock. But PLEASE. Keep your animals on your property, this is devastating to our family.
