As winter weather rolls in, it’s the perfect time to stay warm and catch up on the latest Marketing Team Trail. Jesse Henson closed out 2025 with ranch visits across Oklahoma, visiting with commercial producers about Angus Access and the growing demand for Red Angus.

A common takeaway: producers are seeing more red cattle nationwide and recognizing the breed’s value. Stops included Watson Family Ranch, highlighting a strong set of Angus Access calves, and Cattlemen’s Congress, where Red Angus posted a strong showing in the ring, including a top-five finish in the supreme overall female drive.

Spring sale season is underway, kicking off in northeast Texas, where strong markets continue to reward producers investing in better genetics. Read more online and sign up for inbox delivery at redangus.org/marketing-team-trail/

We have a variety of fall born registered bulls available privately at the farm. In this set there are heifer safe bulls, individuals with added growth and carcass, as well as phenotype to spare throughout. The common trait is that every single bull is from a proven herd matriarch who has 2+ past sons out working in the industry. They are residing on open winter pasture with minimal supplement and ready for your appraisal.

Today we seeded a diverse mixture of vetch, peas, safflower, sunflower, oats, clover, rye, collards, ryegrass, turnips, and triticale into a pasture that spent its summer in a blend of sorghum sudan, cowpeas, mung beans, soybeans, collards, and turnips. The field provided two heavy grazing periods this summer and was stripped clean by the cattle just prior to today's planting. The goal is to feed the soil through carbon capture, nitrogen fixation, and the build up of organic matter.
