Blue Ginger Farms

Blue Ginger Farms Our little farm is a simple homestead. We are not a big outfit.

My goal is to use our farm to teach my children good animal husbandry and how to grow their own food.

This video is for anyone that wants to understand the moisture content of the soil I was talking about in my previous post.
To get oversaturated plants dried out i transfer them to mostly dry dirt but here is a video showing there is still some moisture to it. Happy Growing!

Oops!

We had enough rain that my young tomato plants are half drowned. Look at the discoloration of the leaves. They have too much sun AND too much water.
Here's my technique for fixing this along with some pictures.

1) Remove them from their pots.
2) Pull the wet dirt off the bottom half of their roots.
3) Stick them in soil that is only slightly damp (Not bone dry).
4) Do not water until they look like they are ready for water. (Maybe 2-3 days if in partial, morning sun only.)

I have so many and I am still waiting on my delivery of dirt so I am sticking them all together in a big tote and some amazing dirt I bought over at Richlands Great Outdoors.
Stay tuned. I will post again as to progress and whether I saved them in time.
Happy Growing!

With Planting Season on the horizon, I just want to remind you that if you aren't seeing results the first year you plant, there is a saying that goes:
the first year they sleep,
the second year they creep,
and the third year they leap.

Stay encouraged and keep planting, weeding, and watering. The rest will work itself out with time. 😁
