I am so thankful for these last couple of days. Our schedule is on the go 24/7. We both work full time, farm full time, and the kids are doing activities full time. Some days I don’t know how we fit it all in, in just 24 hours.

But, a few weeks ago we realized that our upcoming summer was anything but low key. The kids have their final 2 dairy shows for the season in the next month, they have 4-H Ambassador Trainings, day camps their helping with, and both Ryan and I have a busy work schedule. Our niece Hattie will be arriving late July or early August, and later in the summer, Emmy is set to have surgery on her foot that she broke 2 years ago and has caused her constant problems. Two weeks ago she made the call to opt for surgery to hopefully remove scar tissue and get here where she isn’t in a walking boot or walking with pain most of the time. She’s put it off, and puts on a good face, but it bothers her constantly.

We realized if we didn’t run away for the weekend this weekend, it probably wouldn’t happen until the fall. We asked the kids where they wanted to go, and they wanted to swim. They wanted pretty water. And it had been so many years since they had been to a beach besides Galveston that they didn’t remember anything else.

So, I found us a reasonable condo, arranged for our animals to be taken care of by our brother in law (THANK YOU!) and we hit the road after work to show our babies a fun weekend in Florida.

Best. Decision. Ever.

While we may have sunburnt the first day (oops- us Texans aren’t used to the UV index being so high and sunscreen not working!) we have had such an amazing time just being with our kids. No Saturday or Sunday schedule. Just going wherever we felt like, whenever. We’ve walked the piers, hunted for shells, buried the guys in the sand, snuggled with our puppies, and played lots of mahjong.

But most importantly, we’ve cherished the time together. The moments we can’t get back, the laughs with our now teenage kids. Late night pizza deliveries because everyone just wanted to stay in pajamas after a long day of swimming. Snuggling with our puppies. Emmy’s thrill over finding a feral cat community at our condo. Sarah crocheting on the patio, Nicholas keeping us laughing with his antics.

It’s back to our normal this week with work,
cows, and our regular schedules.

But I am so thankful for the weekend, and for our family. ❤️ 🏖️ 🌊

Last year, we told everyone it was our 20th dating anniversary, and we realized at the end of the day that we were wrong, it was only year 19. I guess when you’ve been with someone long enough you lose track of time; that says something about your relationship and the blessing that it is. ❤️

But, today we celebrated our REAL 20th Anniversary of our first date. I was a nervous 20 year old who was about to meet a guy from the internet, so I brought my parents and baby sister along [in case he was an axe murderer- and he knew they were coming, I didn’t just surprise him with my family. 😂]

We had a nice supper with my family- and then he and I stood for hours on the parking lot talking before reluctantly parting ways for the night.

To this day, he will tell you he would’ve married me that night. Instead he messaged me after he got home and asked if he could see me that next weekend, just two days away.

It would be 3 more weeks before he would kiss me the first time, at the end of a date- and before he did he asked first if he could kiss me. Probably one of the sweetest and most special moments of my life. I told him yes so he kissed me, and then asked for a second, and a 3rd. As they say, the rest is history.

13 months later we were married, 4.5 years after that, we would welcome our miracle babies, triplets.

God has been so good to us, and I never imagined I could love someone as much as I do he and our kids.

Happy 20th baby! We’ve officially been together half of my life!

It’s 4-H Round Up Time! All 3 kids are competing at Come Alive in D5 this weekend. The girls both entered a storyboard, which doesn’t have to be a project you’ve created, but both girls actually created their projects- and Sarah is also competing with her physical project, a crochet pillow as well!

All 3 kids entered photography projects that we will know about tomorrow, and they’re competing in Ag Product ID and Photography Judging today as well.

It’s a busy but fun weekend doing some of their favorite things, and seeing district friends they’ve not gotten to see since November! 🍀 ❤️ 🍀

What a year April has been! Yes, you read that right… April has been a whole year by itself!

We’ve had a whole herd of new calves born, my voice that has been gone for over a month is finally starting to sound more normal, and Ryan and I are like two ships passing in the night. Work, kids activities, feeding new mamas in new pens with their babies. We did escape to Dallas Saturday night for a brief night away, and it was much needed. The kids loved not having any chores for 24 hours and we spent Sunday laughing and swimming with the kids before coming back home for the work week.

The kids had their last 4-H meeting of the season this week, and while they’re headed to 4-H youth ambassador trainings and day camps they are helping with along with cow shows over the summer, this one was so important for them.

For them, 4-H isn’t just something they do. It’s a part of who they are. My best memories from my teenage years are from my time in 4-H, so I get it.

All three kids wanted to run for offices in 4-H. Sarah and Emmy have served as officers before, but for Nicholas, this was new. He has not wanted to take on leadership, but he stepped up and decided this was his time to try something new.

We are proud to say that all 3 kids were elected by their peers as officers this coming year in 4-H! Emmy- President
Sarah- Historian/Reporter
Nicholas- Recreation Leader

They are so excited to see what this next year in 4-H holds. And I’d be lying if I said my mama heart wasn’t just a little overwhelmed that they’ll be in high school this coming year.

We are both proud and emotional to see our babies be not so little babies anymore. ❤️❤️❤️

04/01/2026

I finally feel like I might be making it back to the land of the living after last week’s county livestock show. I realized this evening I only shared one post the entire week—but what a week it was from start to finish.

It was a week of showing every day for the kids, the Queen’s Contest, working at night, losing my voice (which still hasn’t returned), and an unexpected accident and surgery in our family [another story for another day]. It made for a week we’ll never forget.
The kids started their week with photography, one of their favorite competitions at our county show. All three took home banners in every category, with Sarah winning Reserve Champion Senior Photo!

Emmy was the only one of our kids to compete in ag mech this year, where she upcycled an old TV into a cat condo. She didn’t want to sell her project, so while it earned her a blue ribbon, it’s now proudly sitting in our living room being adored by a house full of cats.

The highlight of the week for Sarah was winning the Queen’s Contest. Sarah wasn’t the only girl who worked hard—there were girls all over our county who spent the last year fundraising. We are so proud of the work Sarah put in, but the other girls did too, all for the same cause. Two girls in particular, Lexis and Gracee, were such examples of what true friendship looks like—even in competition. They constantly encouraged Sarah and cheered her on. To me, that’s what this is about: community over competition.

All the girls chose their own ways to fundraise. For Sarah, much of that was through Mahjong. Among other things, Sarah sold dog harnesses and treats, partnered with our friend Denae for a sweet pup, raffled a bling basket, raffled over 80 sets of tiles, helped teach classes, ran merchandise booths, and for the last three months spent every Saturday away from home—either selling, teaching, or showing—while still keeping a smile on her face.

Thursday was Dairy Day, and our morning took an unexpected turn [that story for another day]. But our barn family stepped in to help. Nicholas jumped in to bathe his and his sisters’ cows while they handled ag mech and Queen’s duties, and in the end, they had a great dairy show. I had a mini breakdown when I realized I had left some heifers off the entries back in December. I’ve never done that before, and on an already stressful day, it hit hard.

But, our kids showed so much grace. When I stepped away for a moment to gather my thoughts and catch my breath, they found me, hugged me, and reassured me they weren’t upset. I’m so thankful for them. Emmy won dairy goat showmanship, Sarah won 2nd showman, and the kids got to show alongside some of their closest friends, making it a really special day.

Friday, Sarah’s beef heifer decided she was going to kick all of us, so for her safety and everyone around her, she chose not to show and instead helped hand out awards. She got to watch Emmy and Paisley show Emmy’s Holstein beef cross, Snowball. We knew Snowball probably wouldn’t be a show winner, but Emmy loves that little heifer—and Paisley does too.
Since this year’s projects weren’t sale projects, we knew they wouldn’t be eligible for auction, but

Saturday still turned out to be a big day. Ryan won a half side of beef in a raffle, Emmy led the pledges, and in one of my proudest moments as a mom, we got to hear Nicholas lead the barn in prayer. If you know him, you know he’s not the first to jump up as a public speaker, so hearing him pray before the auction meant so much. Our club also won the Herdsman award for our Red, White, and Moo Display, so the day was sweet all the way around!

This week we’re trying to get back to normal. I still have no voice, we’re catching up on projects, and we’ve got lots of Mahjong tiles to ship out. I’m so thankful for God’s hand on our family last week. Maybe this week, instead of talking, my job is to listen—and to catch up on life here at home. ❤️

We would love to introduce you to the 2026 Cherokee County Junior Livestock Show Queen, SARAH! 👑 ❤️🐄

It has been a long year of fundraising, mahjong, and the time of her life, and we have YOU our friends, family and wonderful customers to thank for the support!

She was able to raise over $63,000.00 for CCJLS!!!

We are SO proud of Sarah and her hard work!

Keep an eye out, for a post with further info, but we are planning a big celebration mahjong evening soon and would love to have you there! ❤️❤️❤️

It has been quite a season for our family.

I’ve joked more than once that I’m just surviving until the county show is over… and then I’ll finally sleep. Because honestly, that’s what it feels like some days. Late nights, early mornings, working to keep my job caught up while still trying to be the mom I want (and need) to be—present for every moment, every event.

And with Sarah running for CCJLS Livestock Queen, this past year has been busier than ever.

But somewhere in the middle of all the chaos… something really special happened.

We found mahjong. 🀄️

I never imagined it would become more than just a fun game—but it turned into so much more. Not only has it helped raise funds for Sarah to give back to the livestock show, it’s also taught our girls lessons you just can’t plan for.

Emmy ran for—and won—Queen last year. And this year, Sarah has taken on that same journey.

Together, they’ve learned the game, taught others how to play, and sat at tables with brand new friends—players their age and women many years older. And no matter what, they’ve walked away smiling… even when someone occasionally questioned how or why these girls knew how to play with and without blanks. 😂

Through it all, Sarah has grown in confidence in the most beautiful way. She’s learned how to talk to new people, help run fundraisers, and even be part of building a business.

She and Emmy have hauled boxes, packed and shipped tiles, helped choose inventory, and laughed together over those little mahjong moments—racing to rack a tile before someone could call a discard, or realizing they were just one tile away when someone else won.

And no matter what happens next week… crown or no crown… the life experiences she’s gained, and the time we’ve shared together as a family, are something you truly can’t put a price on.

We are so incredibly thankful for the support—from family, from friends, and from so many new faces who have become part of this journey.

She’s got just a few days of fundraising left, and she’s not slowing down yet. 💪

But no matter the outcome, we are already so proud of our girl.

And we can’t wait to cheer her, her siblings, and all of their friends on next week… at their favorite show of all—the one at home. ❤️🐄🀄️

Happy 45th Birthday to my best friend! He’s not on social media, but that doesn’t mean I won’t share about him today. ❤️ We met when he was 25, fresh out of college and had just moved back to Tyler. A lot has happened over the last 20 years of Birthdays. We both have some gray in our hair, we’ve grew up a lot becoming parents to triplets, we’ve seen our share of ups and downs financially, from handling farm duties to juggling this life we lead, he’s still my best friend and the most amazing person I have ever met. You only get better with age, baby! 😘

We love you Ry! Happy birthday!
