This is a psa to anyone who's thinking about pre purchasing hay from who knows where. I buy and sell hay. And have i been taken... yes. I tried to buy alfalfa off a truck from up north from someone i trusted. What i was expecting and what i got were 2 different things. I planned to purchase quality alfalfa and got pure s**t. But I paid for what I ordered and fed it to the cows and they didn't even want it. So don't play into this racket. If you need quality hay buy local, get a test and be willing to pay extra from a farm that guarantees its products. If it's from out yonder way and it is a deal it's probably not. Do your research. Your local commercial hay suppliers honestly don't care about you and your animals in the long run, they only care about the money. I have been the recipient of that this past winter when your "reputable seller " didn't deliver your order or your hay was late and junk. Shop local and reputable. We have our regulars and we keep hay for them but it is a little more. But they won't be out in Feb. Just saying, don't buy hay without a test and looking at it. A lot of sellers will sell you junk. And I have been one of those who drank the tea and paid dearly for it
