A good day in the bee yard. 🐝

Healthy brood, busy bees, and a whole lot of buzzing in the right direction. Just what we want to see as the fall flow hits!

Happy bees = happy beekeepers. 🍯

The honey she makes may be stinky but the blooms sure bring beauty to fall! 🌾🌾🌾

Goldenrod is ready to POP!

We’ve seen it in bloom by the ponds and it looks like everywhere else will open soon. This is a great fall near source for the bees here in East Texas.

Neat fact: goldenrod honey smells like stinky gym socks 👀🤢

Honey and PB oat bites have been on repeat over here the past few weeks 🍯 These are one of our favorite after school snacks, so I thought I’d share! For the record… I almost always add more cinnamon and vanilla than it says, because 😆 Add your chocolate chips in once you’ve mixed it all together so they don’t get too crushed & then roll into a ball 🍪

It’s Fair time! 🎡 The East Texas Beekeepers Assn booth is all set up at the East Texas State Fair and we are ready to teach about bees! Our club really has the most fun discussing bee facts and teaching about honey, we look forward to this week every year! 🍯🐝

Every day is an adventure when you own a business! We opened the door to a surprise visitor. Luckily she perched on a box to rest and we were able to capture her and release her back outside. Guess she wanted some honey for fuel on the migration journey!!

Bees do home repairs too! 🔨🏡 🐝

The entrance reducer on this hive got pushed out of place, leaving a bigger opening than the bees wanted. So instead of waiting on us to fix it, they got to work.

See those perfect bee sized holes? They built up propolis around the entrance, creating their own entrance reducer and closing down the extra space.

Propolis is a sticky mixture bees make from plant resins and use throughout the hive to seal cracks, close gaps, and help protect their home.

Sometimes the best reminder that bees know exactly what they’re doing is simply peeking at a hive and seeing what they’ve built. 💛
