There’s something powerful about knowing how to process your own food.

Butchering isn’t just about meat—it’s about responsibility. It’s understanding where your food comes from, respecting the animal that feeds your family, and not wasting what you’ve been given. It connects you back to a skill that used to be common knowledge, but is now often forgotten.

Our 2026 “bacon seeds” are planted in the garden!

We naturally raise our pigs on pasture and do a rotational grazing method. These piglets will be in this 48’ x 64’ section of the garden for about 6 weeks. While they are here, they will root and till up the land, eating the weeds and getting it ready for planting. We feed them a non gmo grain from our local mill soaked in fresh milk from our Jersey cow. At that 6 week mark (mid May), they will then be moved to another large plot to work on and we will be able to plant in the spot they are currently in.

When the piglets get bigger, we move them more frequently. This cuts way down on parasites and disease, essentially eliminating the any for any medications. The health and care of our animals is top priority. Happy animals produce delicious meat!

If anyone is still needing to order meat chicks, Murray McMurray currently has Ginger Broilers in stock!

We raised 300 Ginger Broilers in 2023 and we highly recommend them. They are very clean, look and smell like your laying chickens but pack on the meat. Their hearts are also large enough to handle the meat growth while regulating their body temps in the blazing hot summers.
We kept their feeders and waterers full 24/7, processed at around 12 weeks.

Our new Ginger Broiler meat bird variety is built like a Cornish Cross, but with none of the problems. With essentially no leg problems, high altitude tolerant, and extremely easy to raise, this breed is a winner.
