🌸 Spring Back Into the Saddle 🌸

Every spring, I start hearing the same thing from women:

“I miss it.”

The horses.
The barn.
The smell of hay.
The sound of horses eating dinner at night.
That feeling when the rest of the world disappears for a little while once you’re in the saddle again 🐴

But somewhere along the way, life got busy.

Careers.
Kids.
School.
Schedules.
Responsibilities.

And riding became something they used to do.

---

But maybe this is your sign that it doesn’t have to stay that way ❤️

As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, I’m opening a few lesson spots this spring for adult riders who want to reconnect with horses in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

No showing required.
No pressure to “be competitive.”
Just good horsemanship, confidence-building, and the joy of riding again.

Many adult riders begin in private lessons to rebuild confidence before transitioning into a relaxed, supportive small group setting.

✨ Spring Intro Offer for New Riders:
Purchase 3 lessons and receive your 4th lesson FREE.

Whether you’ve been out of the saddle for:

- 5 years
- 15 years
- or even longer…

…it’s never too late to come back to something you love.

✨ Spring Intro Offer available through May 31 or until current openings are filled.

Isn’t this how everyone eats breakfast at the barn? 😂🐈

Rare moment:
✔ I actually sat down
✔ attempted to eat breakfast
✔ immediately became cat furniture

Apparently personal space is not part of the morning routine around here 😅

Spring on the farm means baby birds are everywhere right now. 🪺🌱

I was out walking the pastures today checking fencing and footing and almost stepped right on this little nest hidden in the grass.

It’s amazing how well nature camouflages them.

This time of year really is a good reminder to slow down and pay attention to what’s happening around us out in the fields.

Anybody else noticing nests everywhere lately?

Today on the farm I discovered a beautiful sparrow or finch nest.

As you can see, the cow birds have deposited 2 eggs

I look forward to following this nest as the parents tend to the eggs, cate for the babies and finally watching them fledged

By JAMIE SINDELL There was a time when I boarded my horse and got heated. I’m talking full-blown righteous fury over what I saw as egregious examples of poor care. Mistakes that made me seethe with rage. But now? I own my own farm. I’ve spent almost three years caring for my own horses. And […...

Let’s have a little honesty moment… 😅

Because if you’ve spent any time at a barn, you have at least ONE thing that drives you crazy.

The little things like:
🔹️not yelling door/gate
🔹️leaving stuff everywhere
🔹️feeding someone else’s horse without asking
🔹️not picking your horses manure out if the arena
🔹️not riding your corners 😬

We’ve all seen it…
💬 What’s your biggest barn pet peeve?
(Be nice… or at least kind-ish 😂)

05/04/2026

…and I know how tempting it is to just open the gate and let them go.

Your horse is thinking:
👉 “Best day ever.”

And you’re thinking:
👉 “Look at all that free food… less hay to feed.” 😅

But here’s where we need to pump the brakes for a second.

🧠 Spring grass is NOT the same as summer pasture.

It’s: ✔️ high in sugar (NSC)
✔️ fast-growing
✔️ much richer than what they’ve been eating

So when a horse goes from:
hay, dry lot, little to no grass
➡️ straight onto lush pasture…
their system can’t keep up.

⚠️ What can happen:
🚨 Laminitis (founder)
🚨 Colic / digestive upset
🚨 Metabolic spikes
🚨 Rapid weight gain

And unfortunately…
👉 it doesn’t take much.
🐴 The takeaway:
If your horse hasn’t been on grass…
👉 you need to ease them into it
✔️ Start with 10–15 minutes
✔️ Increase gradually
✔️ Keep an eye on them

Spring grass isn’t the enemy…
👉 but going from “zero to unlimited buffet” is.
💬 Be honest—have you ever been tempted to just open the gate and hope for the best? 😅
