That flame thrower from last week isn’t the only thing on 🔥 fire 🔥 around here. Young heard bull FTA Walther turns 3 this summer and is meeting the fruits of his labor from last fall.
QSH Jolene: we came out on Thursday morning (6/4) to free Aurora from the being stuck in the bale feeder to find a freshly born bull calf with Jolene. He shall be called Carl Dean as suggested by coworker Kelli
Beyond Hope Saiorse: Saiorse had been miserable. She must aspire to be a dairy cow or top of her class in milk production because this girl was ready to pop. And girl did she ever! She calved a BEAUTIFUL blue eyed heifer in the early morning hours of 6/9. And this girl is a heartbreaker! We had been waiting for Saiorse to calve and for baby to prove strong so the pair could return to Saiorse’s true home with Maryn Cowell in Minnesota. The pair traveled well and safely and are rejoining Saiorse’s dam and grand dam at Maryn’s new farm ❤️ 4 generations back together ❤️
RW Buttercup, more commonly known as “Momma”: we’ve been on baby watch with Momma for a couple weeks now. According to gestation charts, 6/3 would have been the earliest calving date. But Momma does what Momma wants. Just ask Brent 🤭 She trudged around the place like no other for weeks, soaking up the special attention. We decide to get some sleep on Friday evening and she said “What about me?!?” as she calved a long legged, beautiful black heifer just before midnight on 6/12. We watch Momma close - both her previous boys were breach and required assistance so Brent saying “calf is out” told me we had a heifer 💗
FTA Chardonnay: we’ve had our eye on her but she is a cow that appreciates some space and not a lot of fuss (but loves a good brushing). Sunday morning we loaded to take Saiorse and babe to Minnesota and noticed we hadn’t seen Chardonnay. I successfully climbed through the hot wire 💪🏻 and found her meandering the cut through. Excellent, back to the road. Upon returning home and coming over the ridge in the lane we see a deep red cow seemingly licking something on the ground in the food plot pasture 😳 We had just dropped off the other deep mahogany red cow suggesting this was Chardonnay. Sure enough, with any fuss she had her little boy literally just before we got home home 🩵
And just like that, we have 4 of 9 expected calves. 2 bulls, 2 heifers. Let the babies keep coming!
