Another good day of work in the books! It was a hot one but Chad, Derek, James, and I got straw bales unloaded, and Maddy got our "new to us" high top tables and chairs painted. Things are starting to come together despite the challenges.πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

Thank you so much to the girls: Holly, Autumn, and Maddy (not pictured) for helping me get the schoolhouse cleaned up tonight. It always feels good to get a job done around here, but these things mean even more this fall. So grateful for special people in our lives.πŸ₯°

Some people say I share too much on our business page, but I also know that right now there are people wondering why they're not seeing more social media from me right now considering opening day is coming soon and we are typically in high gear...so I'm going to make a post without a lot of detail, but I'm hoping it will be enough for all of our followers and visitors to give us a little grace.

My dad, whom many of you know because he helps build most of our projects, has been sick with a very dangerous staph infection. The good news is that he seems to be responding to antibiotics, doing better than he was a few days ago, and his infectious disease doctor is really on top of things, but this kind of infection is a journey filled with ups and downs, and we're just doing our best to walk it together as a family while we pray for him to get well.

I have been spending most days with them at the hospital, which means Chad is carrying the load at the farm for the most part. We've had some family and employees step in and help us keep things going, but yeah, we're getting a little behind...so please forgive me for not keeping up as well as I should with social media updates. Please understand that projects that we've started may not get finished. I do know that we'll get everything running and opened up this fall. We just probably won't have all the new additions completed. And if you believe in prayer, we welcome them all.

So I'm sorry if this is too personal for some of you, but I just think it's important that you understand we are trying to get it all done, but we are a small family owned business, and family comes first. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I love this farm, I really do. But I have been reminded this last week that it means nothing to me compared to my family.

We had to take a little road trip to pick up one more project for this fall. The check engine light came on twice, but we made it home.πŸ˜„ Someday we hope to have a vehicle that doesn't do that to us, but I've heard the newer ones just cost more to fix when they do break down. πŸ€·πŸ˜„

The best part about today is that we turned a few hours in the truck into some great "together time" again. We saw beautiful scenery, listened to some interesting podcasts, found a really good restaurant for supper, and had some great conversations. πŸ₯°

The world lost a beautiful light today...Dolly will always hold a special place in my heart. I went back and found this post from my personal page a few years back, and I thought I'd share it and the quote I was referencing with all of you today, in honor of her.

"Dolly's song, "Coat of Many Colors," has always meant so much to me, and I fell in love with the movie when it came out. This song has always connected me to my mom, my childhood, and my faith. I remember Mom singing that song when I was young, and I remember her telling me stories about growing up as one of the youngest in a large family where her wardrobe consisted almost entirely of hand-me-downs. I could always tell how much that song meant to her, and I always knew she truly believed being rich had nothing to do with physical possessions. As I watched the movie, I realized how much mom was like Dolly's mom. I never got a coat of many colors, but mom made almost all my Halloween costumes from scratch (way before it was a "cool" mom thing to do), and somehow I have come to understand the love she sewed in every stitch. She crocheted afghans and scarves for us, and worked an extra job to make ends meet. Her prayers and faith held us together through every trial. She still means the world to me.

Tonight we watched a documentary on Dolly, and I've discovered another reason this song speaks to me. In the documentary, Dolly talked about why "Coat of Many Colors" is her favorite song and what it means to her. She says one of the song's messages is this. "It's ok to be different. It's ok to not be like everybody else. In fact, it's not only ok; it's wonderful that you are who you are." I am so exhausted from never being good enough for some people, and too much for others...I am me; I am good, and I will not limit myself for the rest of my life because others can't handle it.❀️ Dolly never fit anyone's mold, either. (Literally)πŸ˜„"

Happy Monday Morning! I've been pretty quiet since we closed the flower fields...that's because we have been in HIGH GEAR working on projects around the farm to get ready for our fall season. We've been building, pouring concrete, staining, painting, landscaping, gift shop inventory, cleaning the schoolhouse, and more.

Today I'm going to spend time in my office so I'll finally start creating and posting our fall events:
Opening Day: September 12th
Fall Festival: September 19th
Family FunFest: October 3rd
Date Night: October 9th
I'll include all the details on those events when I post them individually.

We've been booking lots of field trips as well. If you still need to schedule your class, please reach out. We still have openings.

It feels like fall this morning, we're seeing lots of color in the pumpkin fields, and we'll be starting harvest soon! It's coming...πŸπŸ‚πŸƒπŸŽƒπŸπŸ‚
