Sunflower Fields in August Our farm boasts beautiful countryside views, an 1860s historic schoolhouse/gift shop, pick-your-own patch, and over 150 varieties of pre-picked fall produce that is washed and clean for you. Our "Fun Zone" includes over 20 activities (including 3 corn pits). We also offer a corn maze, wagon rides around our tree-lined back fields, and our food trailer is open on weekends featuring our popular pulled pork sandwiches and more. You know it's been a good day when the hubby has to run to town after closing because all of you showed up in a huge way, supported our small business, and bought the food trailer out of supplies.😄
On a side note, I worked the entrance most of the day, and what a joy it was to get to talk to so many of you today! I have really missed that part of our business. It always fills my cup to get to visit with you, even though it's only a couple minutes as you go through the line. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and gratitude for what we do! You are the reason I kept going.🥰🥰🥰

Happy Saturday!!! It's crisp and cool, but the sun is out.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR THE SEASON:
We have closed the pick-your-own patch for the year due to the freezing temps last night. We still have plenty of good pumpkins that were protected from the frost. Chad is currently bringing them back out, wagon by wagon and bin by bin.

I'm not gonna lie, freezing temps are my most hated part of what we do. We started the process of putting the produce inside during the day today. Bin after bin got put into storage., sheds, garages, etc. After we closed for the evening, we began moving wagons to our neighbors' sheds (HUGE thank you to our amazingly generous neighbors!!!), enclosing the area with all the minis, and getting a heater hooked up. It's 9pm, and we are still not finished. Not sure what's for supper either.😂

And tomorrow morning we will be starting our day even earlier than normal to try to get everything back out and set up before we open at 10am. Please give us some grace if we're running behind tomorrow morning.

One thing I want to say about all of this is that we REALLY do work hard to ensure we are offering the best possible produce we can. We fight against nature and everything else, but we DO fight. We don't always win, but we do our absolute best. This fall I had a little boy tell me the pumpkins they got from us last year were rotten. His dad, a bit chagrined, confirmed that was correct. I felt awful. I know we're dealing with perishable products. I know we can't ensure they're all good, but we DO work our butts off to do the best we can. I hope you all truly understand that.🥰

MEA Friday: it's cold, windy, and muddy but the colors are pretty and it's not raining.😄
We're open from 10am-5:30pm today. Be sure to dress appropriately: hats, gloves, coats, boots.
Please note: We will not be able to do wagon rides today due to the muddy back fields.

Yes, we're open on this rainy Thursday! Mom and Pam are in the entrance washing minis, and Patty is refreshing the schoolhouse so we figured we might as well be open. It's not a great day to do the outside activities since it's raining, but we've already had a couple people stop out to shop the schoolhouse/gift shop and grab a couple pumpkins. So if you want to stop out, we'll be here.🥰

You're probably getting sick of seeing posts about picking pumpkins, but frost is coming and I'm so proud of the crew tonight! These two girls, Danielle and Kailyn, are new this year, but wow do they work hard and get things done! 💪 I hope they both come back next year.🥰

I started picking at 11 this morning, and let me tell you my back can feel it tonight, but the amount of minis, gourds, and fun stuff I picked to keep our stands full (over 50 crates just today!) makes me feel SO good!

Also, just want to let you all know that we will not have time to get all of the produce that we're pulling out of the fields this week washed before this weekend so you will see dirty pumpkins mixed in with the clean stuff.😔 You know I love our produce to be clean, but sometimes running a small business means you can't get it all done when you're fighting mother nature. It's more important right now to just be getting things out of the fields so we can protect it from the cold Friday night.

Other than that, it's looking like it should be a pretty good fall weekend to celebrate MEA at the farm! Can't wait to see you all!🍁🍂
