What’s that bottle on your shelf you’ve been either walking past or haven’t cracked open in a while and now you’re wondering what the heck you’ve been doing all this time?

My bottle is the Epoch Reserve Maryland Straight Rye Whiskey from . This is a rye I’ve had for a while now, but just haven’t spent time with it recently. Well I’m so happy to have rediscovered this bottle again.

It’s such an awesome one that is very fitting for the amazing ryes that are coming out of the northeast. It delivers rich cherries and cinnamon that develops into a bready biscuit profile that is so dang good.

Let me know down below if you’ve experienced this with a particular bottle or if you’ve had this one! Happy fRYEday good people! Hope y’all have an awesome weekend, cheers!

I was nominated by Brian aka for the New Years Resolution challenge.

The challenge was to respond to the following questions:

1. A distillery to visit this year.
2. A generic whiskey goal for the year.
3. A bottle to obtain this year.

My response was:

1. I selected either or based on which city my family and I will be traveling to this year. Both offer a wide array of spirits and the ones that I’ve been really interested in as of late. Unique mash bills, ryes, and American single malts.

2. I want to be as consistent as possible for you guys and have a weekly release schedule that includes reviews, highlight features, new releases, industry news, and some other educational craft whiskey content.

3. Lastly, I am on the hunt for a higher aged stated American Single Malt this year. I have seen a few hit the market last year and heard very good things regarding those. Very curious to see what those extra years can bring out of those single malts.

What’s a distillery you’re hoping to visit this year as well as a certain bottle that you’re hunting down. Let me know down below. Hope y’all have a wonderful week, cheers!

Merry Christmas everyone! We made it to day 25 and I saved a really special one for you. We’re highlighting out of Alabama.

I first came across Dettling a few years ago and I was just star struck right away and became a fan immediately. I was completely overwhelmed by the profile and complexity of this high rye single barrel that I purchased. They have continued to be on the rise in the industry and has taken it by storm.

The single barrels truly showcase the exceptional capabilities of Seth’s skills and can be showstoppers. Their products can be a little difficult to get due to some shipping limitations but this is a distillery that needs to be on your list and one that you need to hunt for. I’m definitely on the hunt for my next one as well that highly coveted gold top.

Thank you so very much for all of your support through this series. I really hope that you enjoyed it and that I was able to expose you to some new and amazing craft brands across the country. Let me know which was your favorite or one that you will be searching for next.

I hope you and your families all have a very Merry Christmas, cheers!

Welcome in to Day 24 of the 25 Days of Craft! Today we’re highlighting out of Beltsville, MD.

Shmidt Spirits was founded by Arthur and Brain with a mission statement of “I can make it better.” Their main focus and goal here is taste, quality, and finish. The whole experience, you name it. They’re looking to create the highest possibly quality for their whiskeys while honoring the history of the northwest ryes.

Today they make one of the more unique rye whiskeys on the market. Their inkwell is unlike any other on the market. It’s a four grain rye but what really makes it unique is how it contains yellow and red corn in the mash bill. Thus creating a truly unique profile.

They’ve also been experimenting with finishing casks and just recently released a Zinfandel finish which was described to me as one of their best releases to date. I’m very excited for what’s to come for them!

Give them a follow to check out all of their rye whiskeys they’re crafting. They have something for someone just starting out as well as things for the experienced whiskey drinker.

1 more day left and 1 more sleep! May Santa bring all your wishes and bottles. Cheers!

Welcome in to Day 23 of the 25 Days of Craft! Today we’re highlighting out of West Baden Springs, IN.

Typically when we associate whiskey from Indiana we always go to MGP, well there is a craft distillery that operates the largest pot still in the state that crafted some truly unique and high quality whiskeys.

Spirits of French Lick is one my favorite craft distilleries simply because their belief and desire to continue pushing the boundaries of whiskey and the amount of innovation that takes place with this distillery. They’re always experimenting with new grains and unique mash bill combinations to create something unlike anything else on the market.

Take my Kasha bourbon for example. It’s a 5 grain bourbon that has incorporated the grains kasha and buckwheat to craft something wild and delicious. It’s truly a wild one on the nose but the palate is where its true craft shines and exposes you to an assortment of flavors.

I’ve had other offerings from here before and one thing that has come back to me every time is the amount of flavor and complexity that I receive in every sip.

Give them a follow to check out their unique products as well as to learn more about their unique processes of grain selections.

Two more days to go! This has been so much fun sharing all of these distilleries with you and I really appreciate all of your support. It means the world to me when someone comments “never heard of this one but will check it out.” I’m so happy to expose you to new distilleries because they’re all out there and overlooked every single day. Cheers!

Welcome in to Day 22 of the 25 Days of Craft! Today we’re highlighting out of Vista, CA.

117 West Spirits is located just outside of San Diego, CA and are creating some very unique and high quality whiskey. Focusing only on using the finest and 100% California grains, they are crafting some unique offerings that pays tribute to the west coast.

117 West is continuing to innovate and experiment with new grains, finishing casks, as well as new products. They also just recently opened a new speakeasy and it is sure to continue to allow their business to prosper and allow more people to be exposed to their brand and product lines.

I was able to try batch one of their new Port Cask Finished West Coast whiskey and it was easily one of the best finished whiskeys I’ve had this year. It was a strawberry jam bomb that was delicately matched perfectly with the port.

Give them a follow to check out all of the unique work and products they’re continually releasing!

Thanks for all of your support and I hope you all have a great week, cheers!

Welcome in to Day 21 of the 25 Days of Craft! Today we’re highlighting out of Memphis, TN.

Old Dominick has caught fire in this industry and is on a continuous rise. The reason why I wanted to highlight them today is because I do believe they’re one of the absolute best bang for your buck on the market.

I’ve tried numerous products from this distillery and it has yet to let me down. I personally feel that they have a product for every type of palate and will get you hooked on what they’re delivering.

This year they released their first 8 year old product and that’s so incredibly exciting when craft distilleries are able to release higher age stated products. That sends shockwaves out in the whiskey community and that can certainly turns heads. Very exciting future ahead of this distillery and I’m very excited to see what’s next.

Give the a follow and check out their product line and if their products are near you because you certainly won’t be disappointed if you purchased one.

Stay tuned for the last four days as we round out the 25 Days of Craft. Thanks again for all of your support, cheers!
