I put in the order for our tulips today! We’re going to try something different this year since we lost our ENTIRE crop this year 🤦🏽‍♀️ The bulbs will arrive this fall and we’ll grow them in crates- allowing me to keep them in a spot where the deer won’t eat them until they’re ready to be put out for our you-pick in the spring AND if we have some crazy record cold snaps again, I can bring the crates indoors. I’ll keep you posted this fall-spring and let you know how it works! Fingers crossed 🤞🏽

This little sunflower sprout doesn't look like much yet, but we're hoping it will become part of this year's sunflower field. 🌻
This area is a bit of an experiment for us. We had sunflower seed left over from last year, so we decided to try a different location and see what happens. One of the things I love about flower farming is that every season teaches you something new.
I'm actually hoping this planting looks a little less "perfect" and mixes naturally with some of the existing grasses and wildflowers. We'll see what Mother Nature has in mind!
Sunflowers aren't just beautiful, either. They provide food for pollinators throughout the summer, and later in the season the birds will enjoy the seeds.
For now, we'll keep watering, watching, and hoping for a field full of sunshine later this summer. ☀️🌻

One of my favorite things about this spring was seeing the flower fields become part of so many special moments.
We welcomed families, seniors, and even a marriage proposal into the blooms, and it was such a joy to see these photos and talented photographers bring these stories to life.
This beautiful senior session of Taelyn Reeder was captured by Erin Mitchell Photography in the poppy and cornflower field, and it’s one of the many images that reminded me why I started planting flowers in the first place.
As Nectar Road continues to grow, I’m working on something new specifically for professional photographers- creating seasonal access to the farm for those who use beautiful places to tell beautiful stories.
More details will be coming soon, but I’m excited to share what I’ve been building behind the scenes.

Last fall we tilled up a section of the field and planted a BIG variety of wildflower seed. As with everything with Mother Nature, there’s never a guarantee something’s going to work but it’s clear to see this week that the Bachelor Button’s took! They’re popping up all over the place and their pop of blue in the field is BEAUTIFUL! AND… while showing my mom the Bachelor Buttons yesterday, we discovered so many Poppy buds just beginning to make their appearance- another week and they should be blooming too. 🤗
