A little glimpse of something we've been dreaming about at Nectar Road. 🤍
After months of planning, collecting old windows and doors, imagining what this little greenhouse could become, and watching it slowly come to life, we finally welcomed our first family through its doors this week.
And I couldn't have imagined a sweeter beginning.
Erin of Erin Mitchell Photography has been such a wonderful supporter of Nectar Road, visiting us several times over the years and always encouraging what we're creating here. She's incredibly talented, and I love the warmth and beauty she captures in her photographs. Having her here to photograph the greenhouse for the first time meant so much to me.
And a special thank you to Kimmie Reeder and her beautiful family for being part of this little milestone. Such a sweet family, and I couldn't have asked for a lovelier first experience.
There are still so many things I want to create here, and I can't wait to see how this space changes with the seasons.
For now, I'm just grateful to see this little dream becoming real.

The first of next spring arrived in a box today. 🌷
Our first shipment of tulip bulbs has arrived at Nectar Road.
It's always a little strange to me that so much of growing flowers is an act of imagination — holding a rather unremarkable little bulb in your hand in September and picturing what it will become months from now.
These will join the daffodils next spring, and I have some plans for them that I'm pretty excited about.
For now, though, there's planting to do. 🤎

A little visitor at Nectar Road this morning. 🧡
My mom came out to help me scrape greenhouse windows, and somewhere between the scraping we spotted this monarch stopping on one of the butterfly w**d in the field. A little nourishing pit stop on his fall migration route to central Mexico. 🧡

Goldenrod season at Nectar Road. 💛
For years, I thought these bright yellow blooms were partly responsible for my fall allergies. But actually, goldenrod gets falsely accused.
Its pollen is heavy and sticky, meant to be carried from flower to flower by insects rather than floating through the air. Ragw**d — blooming quietly at about the same time — is much more likely to be responsible for all that September sneezing. Anyone else??

Just as many of our summer flowers are fading, goldenrod becomes an important late-season food source for bees, butterflies and other pollinators — including migrating monarchs.
Another reminder that sometimes the plants we overlook, or even think of as w**ds, are quietly doing important work.
There is always more to notice when we slow down long enough to look. 💛

Christmas sessions are beginning to find their way onto the calendar, so I thought it was time to share another little peek at what I’m planning. 🤍
This November and December, the greenhouse will be transformed for Christmas and available to photographers for individual sessions and mini-session blocks.
1-hour photography rental — $100
3-hour mini-session block — $270
The images shown are design mockups of the Christmas set I’m creating. I’m using these as the blueprint for the finished space, so photographers can get a good feel for what to expect when Christmas at Nectar Road comes to life. 🤍

A little “where we are” and “where we're headed.” 🤍
It's getting easier every day to look at the framing and actually see the place I've had in my head. And now we have some walls!
Soon this will be filled with vintage furniture, branches, pumpkins, mums, baskets and all the things I've been collecting for the first Fall at Nectar Road.
October is getting very close…
