It has been almost 5 months since Curtis passed away and I am trying to get my feet back up under me and continue on with this farm. I spent the summer having some improvements made both to the house itself and to the farm. All our roadside fencing was coming down and I had it rebuilt, the master suit got a complete remodel and is now my oasis of peace and I spent a lot of time traveling. Evelyn, who has been my long time farm sitter and got me through last year has now moved in permanently with her boyfriend Sean. It's different having room mates at my age, but it works and all parties benefit.
I am now faced with some decisions as to how to make this farm work and produce more income, because losing Curtis's income is a hard hit. I am not sure if I will continue with sheep production or board horses or what. Some soul searching is in order. One way or another Paul's Haven Ranch will carry one. ❤️

Well it has been almost a year since Curtis was diagnosed with leukemia. A year spent living in Atlanta so he could get the treatment he needed. A year of hope, fear and courage. The doctors refused to give up, I refused to give up, and Curtis continued to fight. Sadly, the battle has now come to an end. Due to his compromised immune system, Curtis picked up a fungal form of pneumonia which is not curable. Last week the doctors told me that they were releasing him on hospice and for me to bring him home. So we are back at the farm trying to keep him comfortable for the time he has left. Our little farm will never be the same, although I plan to carry on. Eventually.
