Now that I know I'm not dealing with an retained placenta/issues there, Rocky is getting to go out for a little bit and graze while all the adults are in the big pasture so I can clean her bedding out. Xena is making me eat my words about wanting an easy keeper... Well, I still want an easy keeper, I just don't need one that's an air fern. Still pretty lame honestly and she wants to know if she still looks cool in her fly gear. (No.) Also at this point I'm about 100% that she broke a couple of bones in the middle of my foot when she squished it. (I'll take my goat to the vet for a check in/run an IV for dehydration, but I won't go to the doctor for myself. (Really though it's not that bad unless I try to flex it/move it wrong/press the part that clicks or a goat steps on it 😂). So yeah, that's life. I'm feeling optimistic about Rocky's recovery at this point.

Just checking in to let everyone know that we're fine and the worst of the storm missed us. The worst we got was some flooding and all the light bulbs blew in my milk parlor! Rocky is doing alright, not really eating or drinking much, doing a lot of resting but she does get up and move. However she still hasn't passed her placenta even with oxytocin..So keep sending good vibes. *Edit* apparently they removed the placenta during the surgery but I didn't see it and when I called, the other vet that was there didn't think they'd removed it. So I didn't find it it was removed until I got there today. So I was stressed and made Rocky stressed for nothing. Fml

Oof. It's been a week here y'all. We will probably not be at the Farmers market tomorrow due to farm issues. It never rains except when it pours. Rocky is recovering from her emergency Cesarean today to remove a malpositioned solo buckling. She's now using my milk parlor as a recovery suite as it's the most sterile place on the farm and is climate controlled. Keep her in your thoughts/intentions/prayers for a good recovery. She was 6+ days overdue and I thought she reabsorbed as I never saw anything on the ultrasound, but her blood test was positive. She had no udder and all her ligaments until last night. This morning she seemed to be struggling and didn't respond to anything we did. After the initial fluid bubble burst and there was no progression, we did all the normal steps but nothing worked. So we went to the vet where 6 of us tried to reposition the baby without luck. So emergency surgery was the only option. Unfortunately she is so fat that surgery was more difficult than normal (she weighed in at 90 lbs on only pasture) but the vet thought she has a good outlook (as long as she wants to live). Additionally one of my senior does, and favorites, sweet Delilah passed away this week. This kidding just took it out of her and while her post death f***l wasn't overly concerning, she was anemic and had a minor temperature before rapidly crashing. Potentially silent pneumonia thanks to the awful weather. We're currently dealing with that in one of our doelings as well but caught it early in the fever stage and she's on day 3 of recovery. Xena is still lame, on stall rest and she's grumpy about it. oh and my foot is still swollen turning some interesting colors from where she squished it. So yeah, I'm over this week. **Additional note** A huge shout out needs to go to the Siloam Springs Veterinary Clinic. They are walk in only so we got in immediately and truly they are the most affordable vet I have ever met. If you have a 'need to be seen now' emergency in that area, for domestics or livestock, I highly recommend them. I've gone to them several times and they've been great. They are very no frills, but they are very knowledgeable and down to business.

Fun exercise - tell me your unofficial farm motto/mantra.. the one you chant in your head over and over again. I think mine is probably: "living the dream, one nightmare at a time." Because you know, it's not farm life if there's not something going wrong. I was admiring how good my garden was going this year and my new milk parlor and *bam* Xena is dead lame again even with long grass and a daily muzzle. Went to trim some of her extra toe off to give front relief and she managed to step on part of my foot with the edge of hers. So now I'm nice and limping and everything is muddy and soaked due to the storms. But you know, farm life is so safe and relaxing right?

The Sooter Valley Peggy (Sire: Haycreeks Archer Prince. Dam: Haycreeks Haze Polly) kidded today with a big buckling and a small doeling. Finally got my mini Oberhasli doeling for the year 😂 even if she's not the standard color, it's acceptable for a G1. Buckling was a bit stuck as Peggy was an ff and I wasn't sure how long she'd been laboring when I found her (clearly a good bit), but I got him out and now thankfully he and his sister are doing good. Doeling is retained but the boy will be available as I only need one mini Ober buckling. These kids are sired by Southern Grace Wildcard *B.

Hey everyone! We are waiting to see what the weather looks like in the morning- if it's raining/going to storm we will be sitting out this market. But if it clears up, we'll be there! In happier news, while not totally finished, my milking parlor is open for business! It's fully insulated everywhere with two overhead fans and an ac unit. Anti slip rubber flooring for easy cleanup. We're still going to be making the second milk stand and I need to get a fridge, shop sink, feed trough and make an awning area for the goats if it's raining, but I'm so happy! Also, Angie kidded two days ago with (another) mini Oberhasli buckling. Apparently I'm just not supposed to have a single mini Ober doeling this year 😂.

I know I ordered a mini Oberhasli buckling, but did every mini Oberhasli this year have to be a buckling?! Boo. The Sooter Valley Angelica (ff) kidded today (apparently 145 days was plenty, thanks) with a great big solo buckling 😂). One more Oberhasli due to kid, so fingers crossed for a doeling. Peggy is the doe that I wrote down who she bred to, but apparently not the date. *Facepalm* Rocky still isn't really showing signs of being bred, ugh.

Attention Grove Farmers market friends, we will not be there tomorrow because apparently I'm old enough now that if I sleep wrong on my knee, I hurt it significantly. We will catch you there next weekend!
