We want to clarify something about the recent Jeannette Concerts & Food Truck Thursday post, because the conversation in the comments seems to have turned into something that it really isn’t.
This is not a Sobel’s Brewery rule. It is not about whether you like craft beer. And it is not about forcing anyone to purchase Sobel’s beer.
Food Truck Thursday is a permitted vendor event with multiple licensed alcohol vendors participating. Sobel’s is the only beer vendor, but we are not the only alcohol vendor. Each alcohol vendor has gone through the required licensing process to legally sell alcohol at the event.
The reason attendees cannot bring their own alcohol onto the event grounds is because consuming alcohol brought from outside the event is prohibited under the City of Jeannette’s open-container ordinance.
That means it doesn’t matter whether you’re bringing a Miller Lite, Bud Light, wine, liquor, or anything else from home. You cannot bring it into the event and consume it on the lawn. Alcohol being consumed at the event needs to be purchased from one of the licensed vendors participating in the event.
And this is where the “no coolers” policy comes in as well.
The cooler policy isn’t simply about someone bringing in a six-pack of beer. Coolers containing food, beverages, or other alcohol products are bypassing the local vendors who are there specifically to serve you.
Food Truck Thursday is a vendor event. The food trucks and beverage vendors participating pay fees, obtain permits and licenses where required, purchase inventory, staff their businesses, and show up to serve the community. When attendees bring a cooler filled with their own food and drinks, they are choosing not to support the vendors who have invested in being there.
We understand that not everyone likes Sobel’s beer. That’s okay. Nobody is saying you have to. There are multiple alcohol vendors at the event, and there are plenty of food options from the participating food trucks.
These policies have existed since the beginning of the event series; they are simply being more actively enforced now.
This is an event-wide policy, not a Sobel’s policy.
We are proud to participate in Jeannette Concerts & Food Truck Thursday alongside the other local vendors and musicians, and we appreciate everyone who comes out to support the businesses that invest their time and money to make these events happen.
Please don’t turn an event-wide policy into a Sobel’s Brewery issue. The rules apply to everyone.
