We're in a season of transition here at Mossy Creek Mushrooms—and damn near everything seems to be changing at once!

Ready-to-fruit blocks are BACK! We've got new projects moving, old projects coming back around, systems changing, partnerships growing, and plenty happening behind the scenes that we'll talk through on this week's livestream.

But that's the nature of this whole thing.

Every day has its season. Every week has its season. Every month has its season. Every year has its season. Things grow, change, die back, get rebuilt, and eventually come around again.

Stacking spore prints!

Mossy Creek Oyster is up on deck for the breeding program and I'm really excited to see what this one will reveal.

First off we'll run some self crosses and see if anything interesting pops up in the F2 and F3 generations. Maybe some interesting recessive traits lurk there. Probably not, but maybe!

Every cross is a treasure hunt, it's what makes it so exciting.

First flush starting in the new grow room!

We recently downsized our grow room since we are no longer growing for restaurants. All we need is initial testing of strains and a constant source of spores for our burgeoning breeding programs, so we converted the old grow room to a new use, and now we have a smaller, more temperature controlled room for all the tests and spores our little hearts desire!

Another Thursday means another night hanging out in the lab and talking about whatever we've got growing, breeding, experimenting with, or scheming about here at Mossy Creek Mushrooms!

This week we've got plenty to catch up on. We'll be checking in on our mushroom breeding programs, looking at how our ongoing substrate trials are progressing, talking about some new product announcements, and taking a look at what's happening with our plant tissue culture work.

We'll also spend some time looking farther ahead. Where is mushroom cultivation going? What can we do with selective breeding, plant tissue culture, fungal genetics, ecological cultivation, and all the other tools we're playing with now? I always enjoy the future-forward conversations, so expect a few rabbit holes!

This week we're digging into some of the projects currently running around the Mossy Creek Mushrooms lab—and probably wandering down a few fungal rabbit holes along the way!

We'll start by checking on the substrate trials we inoculated last week and seeing if we're starting to get any useful results. From there, I want to show off and talk through a few of the crosses currently moving through our breeding program, what we're selecting for, and where I think cultivated mushroom genetics may be headed as the industry matures.

But I also want to zoom WAY out.

What happens when we start selectively breeding fungi not just for farms, but for ecological purposes? Can we select strains specifically for particular environments, plant associations, restoration projects, or forestry applications?

I've also been spending a lot of time thinking about how plant tissue culture and mycorrhizal culture could eventually come together—propagating both sides of the relationship and recombining selected plants and fungi for future mushroom plantations, orchards, forestry systems, and other long-term projects.

We'll be talking about:

� Mushroom breeding & some of our current crosses
� Updates from our substrate experiments
� Where mushroom genetics may be headed commercially
� Selective breeding of fungi for ecological applications
� Plant tissue culture + mycorrhizal culture
