Happy ‘Gotcha Day’ Hazel!

2 years milking and the first heifer I ever trained. Boy has she taught us a few things in the past two years but I’m thankful for all of them.

Still my favorite in the pasture and her daughter is just as special. We decided to flop her calving schedule back to fall in hopes she’ll carry our Randall calf over the summer of ‘27. She’s a heavy producer so she won’t mind a longer lactation. She’s currently milking 4 gallons a day on OAD milking after calving in April. We’ll breed her back in November or December.

When all the sheep are white, they blend together right? ~Asking for a friend 🫣

1 milk sheep became 3 rather quickly. BUT, I’m over here day dreaming up sheep milk desserts and cheese.

The kids have heard me on repeat the past few years say, “If you’re gonna milk one cow, you might as well milk a few.” I think she took it to heart. Women in agriculture rock and I’m here for it. Follow your dreams!

Welcome the two newest lambs on the block!

Both ewe lambs are high percentage EF and should be beautiful milkers. Guess only time will tell. Don’t worry, we’ll be recording all of it. Who said homeschool was boring? 😆

What a wonderful treat this afternoon. 10 minutes from where I grew up, this place is a tiny slice of heaven. Definitely worth the wait!
