Like Mother, Like Son.

Chippy has proven to be a great doe and raises some chunky kits. Although her don’t kits don’t grow as quickly as her mother’s, the carcasses are meatier by 12 weeks. We want to add some stronger meat genes in there.

We’re on the look out for a solid breed buck. New Zealand, Californian, or something similar. Open to trades as we love to barter 🙂

Happy 2nd Birthday to our very own Moxie Moo!

She’s been a favorite here since we brought her home at 5 days old 💛 Right in the backseat of the car 🤭 Sorry Dad!

Currently running with the Hereford bull and should be expecting her first calf this winter. To say we’re excited would be the understatement of the year 😂

Half Randall-half Holstein we expect her to be a milky girl. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Faolan is healing well after his run in with the porcupine. I’m still amazed at how much he’s grown in the past year. He turned TWO on May 12th. She’s almost 13, just over 5’ tall, and he still outweighs her by at least 40 pounds. I promise he’s a soft as he looks and I honestly don’t know how he stays so clean 🥴 He really loves his kids and belly scratches!

Is there anything more satisfying than seeing your cows eat green?
We’ve waited a long time to see our wooded pig area turned into lush green pasture for the cows. My husband’s countless hours after work and thorough selection of seed. We might not always see eye to eye on the to do list but this pasture means everything. Blood, sweat, tears and prayers. There isn’t a thing this man can’t do. We’re blessed to follow his lead and thankful for his guidance.

Doesn’t take very long to make em friendly with this girl around 🤭 A bottle, a brush, and he was golden! Heilala is in heaven with a friend her age and he’s helping us keep our extra milk in check. With the pigs leaving for butcher tomorrow, we needed a few extra mouths to feed. Born on Easter, his previous human momma named him Cristo. Welcome to the farm handsome!

We’ll be working the sheep through the top few acres in hopes to get the cows over here by summer. The past two years we’ve planted specific seed to ensure the best grazing quality grasses. With such a short grow season here in Maine, our animals have been dependent on hay year round. Let’s take the sheep off that feed bill!

Slow and steady 🙏🏻
