"The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is today"

Now that it finally rained, we were able to plant the 50 small, Swamp White Oak trees that have been sitting in our garage for weeks.
We planted 24 lining the south side of the road, and the rest outback near the wildlife scrapes. I ran out of the plastic trunk protectors but I have more ordered, I also ran out of the motivation to finish mulching them today lol.

🚨🦝🚨🦝🚨 The Duck Egg Bandit has been caught!🚨🦝🚨🦝🚨

I hate it when they make the cute puppy eyes when they get caught in the trap 🥺. But, it starts out with them just stealing eggs here and there, and then before you know it, it escalates to them killing my mamma ducks and her babies. So unfortunately he needs to be humanely dispatched to prevent any of my animals from getting hurt.

Alright, I've had it!
I thought we had caught the culprit, dubbed Huevos, and rehomed him, but I guess not!
This time there are clear raccoon 🦝 tracks in the evidence.
I've baited and reset the trap behind the farm stand, and will be setting a few more traps.

In the meantime, I will be stocking eggs in the plywood egg box on the farm store porch until the culprit has been apprehended.

Please note, the road will be closed Tuesday 5/12!

🚧 UPDATE🚧 THE ROAD IS OPEN!

🚨 🚧 Tuesday 5/12 we're closing the road down for the day! 🚧🚨

The road will be closed just east of our farm drive for most of the day. COMPLETELY CLOSED- NO THROUGH TRAFFIC

Since they're re black topping the road this summer, it's the perfect time to install a big culvert under the road so we can graze the cows on the south side of the road in the future. This is something we've always wanted to do and it's finally coming to life. It's a 60" culvert, so it's big enough for the cows to walk through under the road instead of walking them across the top of the road, it will be much safer this way!
