The last of the peony bouquets 🥹 out for delivery this morning with Farm to Porch.

It sure has been a whirlwind of a spring!

Flower farming is always an adventure, and this year was no exception. Between losing nearly half of our peony buds to frosts and watching our ranunculus burst into bloom only to go dormant just a couple of weeks later, Mother Nature certainly kept us on our toes.
This was the year I had hoped to share even more spring blooms with all of you, but that’s the reality of small-scale farming—we work with what nature gives us and do our best to make the most of it. Every season brings new challenges, lessons, and opportunities to grow.

I’m so grateful to Brad for helping me install drip irrigation for our rows of annual flowers. This is going to be a huge game changer—saving countless hours of watering while also using water much more efficiently. 💧

I’m also testing out a new biodegradable mulch film made entirely from a vegetable starch based material—no plastic! At the end of the season, it’s designed to be tilled right back into the soil.

Even better, it has a white side and a black side that can be used depending on the weather and crop needs. With temperatures already pushing 80°, I’m hoping it will help keep these young seedlings happy and thriving.

Every season brings new opportunities to learn, improve, and grow. I can’t wait to see how these changes impact this year’s flowers! 🌼🌿

Ranunculus and Anemones…the fussiest, most high maintenance flowers that I can’t seem to live without 🙃

Every year I swear them off, until they bloom and I’m reminded all over again why I do this to myself every Spring lol

This week was the very first week of deliveries for a brand new Farm to Porch delivery service, and we are blown away by the support.

A wonderful local woman had a simple idea — make it easier for families to support local farms and get fresh products delivered right to their doorsteps. In just the first week alone, over $8,000 in orders went directly back to small, local farms and producers. How incredible is that?

We feel so blessed and thankful to be a small part of something that supports hardworking farm families and strengthens our local community. Every purchase truly makes a difference for farms like ours.
