Our Brawley Farms community is coming together to support someone who has given so much to both our riders and horses over the years.

For those who may not know her, Rachel is Debbie’s assistant trainer and professional rider at Brawley Farms North, and has been part of the Brawley family for many years. She is also our professional rider at horse shows for both Brawley Farms North and South. Rachel has dedicated so much of her life to helping horses and riders grow, and she has been an important part of our barn family for a very long time.

On Monday, April 27th, Rachel was involved in a serious accident and suffered a major fracture to her left tibia. She is facing surgery, an extended recovery, significant medical expenses, and a long period without being able to work normally.

Her family has created a GoFundMe to help support her through surgery, rehabilitation, lost income, and day to day expenses during recovery. If you are able to donate, share, or simply keep Rachel in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean so much to all of us.

Thank you for supporting someone who has always been there for this community and for so many others.

In Loving Memory of Cody

On Friday, May 1st, we said goodbye to our dearly loved lesson horse, Cody.

Cody was a kind, gentle soul who played an important role in our program, especially for riders ready to take the next step in their journey. He had a quiet way of teaching, asking riders to be thoughtful, clear, and present, and in doing so, he helped so many develop confidence, feel, and true understanding.

He brought a calm, steady presence to the barn and was loved by so many who had the privilege of learning from him. Cody leaves behind a lasting impact on our riders and our barn family, and he will be deeply missed.

We are so grateful for the time we had with him.

Brawley Farms would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Melanie Smith-Taylor and Alicia Landman for another incredible three-day clinic this weekend.

We are so grateful for the time, knowledge, and experience they shared with our riders and horses. Alicia led the groundwork sessions, helping riders better understand communication, connection, and how the work on the ground translates directly into the saddle. Melanie then guided riders through the jumping portion, bringing those same concepts into their riding over fences.

The combination of their expertise creates such a valuable and educational experience, and we are incredibly thankful for the patience, insight, and encouragement they gave to every rider throughout the clinic.

We also want to recognize our riders who participated in the clinic. We were proud to have seven riders from Brawley Farms South take part this year, and they represented our program wonderfully. Each of them showed great effort, openness to learning, and real growth over the three days. It was exciting to see how much they absorbed and how much their riding progressed throughout the clinic.

Thank you again, Melanie and Alicia, for continuing to share your knowledge and help our riders grow. We are already looking forward to the next one.
