Angus in a Sam sandwich at the NOFA-VT Winter Conference on Saturday…

On the left, our long time neighbor and friend, Sam Rowley. He runs the Sustainable Ag program at Green Mountain Technology & Career Center, teaching high school students about soil science, livestock care, horticulture, and more. We’ve worked closely with him for nearly 10 years now.

On the right, farmer Sam Knapp of and author of “Beyond the Root Cellar” a book about growing and storing winter vegetables. We’ve had the pleasure of hosting him this weekend. He visited VT to teach a workshop on his methods at the conference, accompanied by Angus.
We wish he was our neighbor too, but he’ll be heading off to Quebec to record an episode on The Market Gardener Podcast. 😎

We proudly partner with the NOFA-VT Farm Share Program. This program offers discounted shares up to 50% to folks who qualify. We have a biweekly pick up option as well as a store credit option this year. All info linked in bio!

We are incredibly humbled by the support from our community in the last year and by the number of folks who have already signed up for our CSA program. Thank you 💖 🙏 ✨

We do have some remaining spots open for new members in our Summer CSA program.
We have two options now:
Weekly Pick Up
OR a Store Credit CSA

Why join? A CSA program helps offset the seasonal startup costs for your farmer, including things like seed orders, propane for heating seedling greenhouses, fertilizer, compost, potting soil and increased payroll. In turn, you’ll receive ultra fresh vegetables each week and at the same time, your investment supports local agriculture and the local economy. Investing in our farm in this way not only benefits our family but also our five employees, some whom work year round now.

Lastly, participating in our CSA offers you a 10% discount from our retail pricing, the opportunity to try new vegetables AND meet new people. Our weekly newsletter includes recipes and ideas about how to prepare the foods in your share.

Pick up day is on Wednesdays at from 3-6pm starting June 11. Folks are welcome to add store credit to their regular share, since we’re doing just a one size share. We’ll be also be adding Mondays at the stand starting this summer also for an extra shopping day.

‘Twas the month before spring, and not a creature was stirring, except for the rabbits.
The seed orders were all placed with care, fertilizer shipped and CSA Sign ups opened,
while visions of sun ripened veggies dance in our heads.
And Angus is seeding greenhouse tomatoes while Holly organizes the nursery inventory spreadsheet on this long winter’s night.

NEW THIS YEAR

🥕 The Farm Stand will also be open on Mondays starting in June.
🌽 We’ll be adding EBT as a payment option in 2025 (the application process is arduous, stay tuned.)
🌱 Loads of new fruit and native plants are being added to our website for preorders.
🍆 Our commercial kitchen will be up and running in the next week or two. We will have simple prepared food options available soon.

We’re also literally 2 inches from licensing the commercial kitchen and will have more jams AND some simple prepared foods soon. Walk through with the health inspector on Thursday left us with only a few loose ends to tie up 😅

WE’RE HIRING! Join our boisterous team for the fall season! We need an extra set of hands since our beloved high school students returned to school this week.

Full time, must be team oriented, able to lift 50 lbs and willing to work in all weather conditions. Experience working on a wholesale vegetable farm a plus!
Temporary housing available for rent for the right person. Benefits include a weekly CSA and lots of laughter.

Our hearts are heavy for Vermont right now. So many friends, family and other farms impacted around the state 💔
Please reach out if there is something we can do to help. We have so much gratitude for everyone who reached out to us offering support AND for our amazing farm crew and friends who helped us test out and develop new systems to minimize post flood cleanup.

As of right now, the driveway at The Farm Between is impassable BUT no water got in the buildings, likely because the ground was less saturated than it was when we flooded in both July and December last year. And possibly the driveway repairs and new culvert contributed.

We will open the stand this afternoon if it recedes and if the Wrong Way Bridge reopens. If the flag is out, please stop by and say hello!

We should be fine for regular Saturday hours of 9-5 with veggies and our own and blueberries 🫐

We are anticipating flooding in the driveway this afternoon because the Lamoille river has not yet crested in Johnson. We are not opening the stand today but are planning to be open regular hours Friday 10-6 and Saturday 9-5. It’s not easy to stomach this anniversary flood and our hearts are with our fellow farmers.
