Townsend’s Sorghum has been produced on the same farm in Jeffersonville, Kentucky since the late 1800s. Townsend’s Sorghum is currently being produced by the fifth generation family patriarch Danny Townsend. Danny took the reins of the family business in the mid-1980s. Since that time, Townsend’s Sorghum has been instrumental in sorghum’s revival.

STREET CLOSURE NOTICE - Some downtown streets are closed for the October Court Day Festival in Mt. Sterling, KY on October 16-18, 2026. Barricades will be placed at all entry points into the festival area to restrict vehicle traffic daily from 9AM to 6PM. South Maysville Street will be closed to thru traffic for the entire event (due to vendors being located on the street.)

Parking will be available in designated parking spaces along streets that are not closed for the event. Multiple property owners will also provide opportunities for parking.

Handicap parking will be available in City Lot #1 (access from Main Street using South Wilson)

All streets will be back open by Monday (10/19/2026) morning.

This weekend is October Court Days in Mt Sterling and Preston. We‘ll have a booth in both towns selling sorghum, honey, apple butter, sorghum caramel corn, and sorghum suckers! In Preston, our booth will be where it has been for years. It’s on the street across from the old store and I believe it’s Chesapeake Dr. In Mt Sterling, we’re on the corner of Locust and Maysville, in the parking lot of Townsend Financial Planning, 102 S Maysville St.
