One of our customers recently told us they were hesitant to bring in a new bakery item because they weren't sure how guests would respond. They ultimately decided to try it as a limited-time special.

Within two weeks, it became one of their best-selling items. Sometimes the best next move doesn't start with certainty, but a willingness to try something new.

After 46 years in foodservice, we've learned that some of the biggest successes begin with a small leap of faith.

Being a third-generation family business has shaped the way we see our work. It reminds us that every decision we make reflects not only on our company today, but on the generations that built it, and those who will carry it forward.
For Sam Borg, MRS Baking has always been part of his life.

"It's all I've ever known," he says. Having grown up around the family business, he's seen firsthand what it takes to build lasting relationships, earn customers' trust, and maintain the standards MRS Baking has become known for.

Sam’s days as Sales Manager are spent checking in with customers, introducing new products, and helping businesses find solutions that fit their needs. One of his favorite parts of the job is seeing a customer's vision come to life, whether it's a special event, a new menu item, or finding just the right product.

To Sam, customer relationships are the heart of the business. "Relationships are everything in this business. Our customers need to know they can count on us. Even when challenges come up, they know we'll do everything we can to make it right."

He's also excited about the future of foodservice. As customer needs continue to evolve, Sam enjoys working with bakery partners to bring in innovative products, including options that accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies.
When asked what carrying on the family business means to him, his answer was simple:
"It means everything to me. I am now a part of carrying on the legacy that my grandparents built. I want to make the company bigger and better for the generations to follow me."

That's the passion that continues to drive MRS Baking forward.

When you see an MRS delivery truck, you're seeing the final step in a much bigger process.

What you don't see are the daily practices that help ensure every order arrives with the quality and care our customers expect. From warehouse operations and food safety procedures to employee training and continuous improvement, these behind-the-scenes efforts are just as important as the products themselves.

We're proud to have earned a Superior rating from AIB International, a reflection of the standards our team works hard to uphold every day.

Because at MRS, excellence isn't something we talk about. It's how we do things.

It feels like the sandwich has always been there.

Packed in school lunches. Shared over business meetings. Ordered at your favorite neighborhood deli. Grabbed on the way to work. It's one of those foods that's become part of everyday life. But every classic has an origin story.

The sandwich, as we know it, is believed to date back to the 1700s, when John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, asked for meat to be served between two slices of bread so he could eat without leaving the card table. Whether the tale is entirely true or not, the idea stuck, and centuries later, the sandwich is still one of the most enduring menu staples in the world.

Why? Because it's endlessly adaptable. Every culture, every chef, every café, and every restaurant has found a way to make it their own. Behind every great sandwich is a great slice of bread. 🍞

Behind every memorable dining experience is someone whose hard work often goes unnoticed.

It might be the pastry chef who arrives before sunrise. The café owner who knows every regular by name. The dining services manager keeping hundreds of meals running on schedule. The hotel team member who always goes the extra mile.
This week, we'd love to celebrate the people who make hospitality exceptional.

👇 Nominate someone in the comments who deserves a shout-out. Tell us:
• Who they are
• Where they work
• Why they're making a difference
Let's recognize the people who keep our industry moving.
We can't wait to read your nominations.

Happy Bagelfest Day! In New York, bagels are not just breakfast.
They are part of the rhythm of the city.

They are the early-morning coffee runs before work. The hotel breakfast buffets already stocked before sunrise. The neighborhood cafés opening their doors while the streets are still quiet. The commuter ordering on the go. The university students stopping in before class.

For so many hospitality businesses across New York, bagels are part of the daily routine their guests count on.

And behind every fresh bagel served is an entire network working long before most people are awake; bakeries, warehouse teams, drivers, kitchen staff, café teams, and hospitality professionals all helping keep the city moving.

On National Bagelfest Day, we are proud to celebrate one of New York’s most iconic staples and the people behind it.

Because in this city, hospitality starts early.

Hospital workers have some of the hardest schedules out there.

Somebody’s grabbing coffee at 5:30 in the morning. Somebody else is eating lunch at 10:45 because it’s the only chance they’ll get all day. Night shift’s looking for something quick while everybody else is asleep. Patients and their families needing comfort and nourishment during a long day.

Food service in hospitals is important for everyone. Especially when people are tired.
