Davis Farm

Davis Farm We are one of 2 remaining Dairy Farms in Jericho, Vermont We sell raw, Organic, grass fed milk as well as farm crafted compost.

Gary's Grandfather(Cedric) purchased this farm in the 1940's. It has been farmed continuously by a member of the family since then, except for a few years in the 70"s. We are trying to raise our children amidst the pull of the world. Our world has been shattered by the loss of our 17 year old son on July 28, 2013. Then Gary's diagnosis of a rare cancer and slip into a severe Clinical depression.

All while trying to run a dairy farm. Follow our journey here www.davisfarmvermont.com

We gathered at the river. 80 years to an infant. We stood by the flowing water as two young people told of their faith, their desire to live for Jesus. A choice.
They entered that water as a symbol of washing away their old ways and beginning a new life.
I can’t help but think of my own children entering those waters and the choices they made.
Our Pastor reminded us that conversion and baptism are not end. It’s only the beginning. We spend our whole life striving to be like Jesus. He listened. He ate with the poor and marginalized. He fed the 5,000. Most of all people wanted to change to be more like him. May we all learn to love and serve as Jesus did.

I spy? Do you see him?

My farmer suggested we eat down at the river. I am tired and didn’t want to pack up the stuff and go… but I did! And I am glad! It was a beautiful evening to be out!! Hot dogs and beans and ice cold milk!
My farmer was cleaning up the area at the river. We are hosting baptisms there tomorrow. Oh how I love this day each year.
Decades of new life beginning here in this space. A gift. 🤍

What have I been doing? Well. I’ve been laughing and giggling and making Oatmeal and popovers! I’ve said where is my coffee 800 times! We’ve had coffee around the farmhouse table.
We had a successful first night sleepover in Aunties Bed!! Hoping tonight will go just as well!!
Washing dishes and cleaning up while he’s settled for a few moments.
How. In the world.. . did I do this with all those kids?
Got to get to work! Pouring more coffee! ☕️Have a great day. Choose to be kind. Choose to listen. Even if you disagree with someone, you may learn something from them. 🤍

Ahh afternoon coffee! ☕️A little later than usual! It’s been a busy day! The weather has been perfect.
How has your day been? Have you encouraged someone today? Have you had enough water? What are your thoughts dwelling on today? Remember to step into gratitude. Even when it’s hard. Even when things are hard. Name them. Out loud.

Did you know in order to get the cows to this field they have to cross the river? Our section of the Brown’s River is very volatile. It floods in the Spring and sometimes throughout the summer. The cows need to be kept out of the river, which presents additional maintenance. We can not install permanent fencing due to the flooding. Over the years the river has definitely claimed some of our fencing supplies. Not to mention the loss of pasture into the river.
My farmer maintains a river crossing so it’s safe for the cows to cross to this field.
But we always keep an eye on the weather. There have been times when it’s been dicey getting across for milking! 😳
There’s never a dull moment here. 🤭

Is this a struggle for you? I don’t drink a lot of iced coffee. I prefer it hot. So, I am upping my iced coffee game. Watered down coffee is awful. Partly why I don’t drink iced coffee. So I froze some left over coffee! Yes. Yes, I know. What is left over coffee? 😂
I’ll let you know how it goes!
Moving slow this morning! I’m not sure why.
The travelers return home today! I am very happy.
Our coffee buddy is preparing to leave. I am very sad.
Time has flown by this summer. But these last few weeks have been glorious out. The temperature, sunshine, beautiful green landscape. It’s a dream. 🤍
Be kind. Love well. Be a blessing to someone today. Even if you don’t feel like it. 🤍🤍

We ate berries in the library watching birds. We then went outside and drove cars and equipment all around the yard until he was taken by his uncle to the shop!
When he returned, it was a quick episode of little bear and down for a nap!
In the mean time sweet little 15 month old Abigail came to play for a little while!
They both played amazingly well together!
Now it’s cabbage and onions and summer squash and onions simmering on the stove! I’m hungry!
I need an ice cold glass of milk! 🥛
What are you making for dinner?

Do you have those moments when you see something, and it just brings you pure joy? This photo just made me smile. It made my heart happy.
I love watching my kids thrive. It is hard to watch them struggle. Yet, the struggle bears fruit. Walking in gratitude today.
What about you?
