🌧️ Kohler Farm Apple Update β€” Supplies Are LOW Today! 🌧️

Just a heads-up, our apple supply on the stand is a little slim today thanks to Mother Nature and her decision to turn on the rain.

As many of you may recall, #1 Employee has VERY particular working conditions. I do not work in:

❌ Cold
❌ Extreme heat
❌ Rain
❌ Snow

I know what you're thinking… Amber, you live in MICHIGAN. When exactly DO you work?! 🀣

Listenβ€” we all have standards. Mine just happen to eliminate approximately 87% of Michigan weather conditions. Also its why I hold a very comfy full time day job inside a office lol. Weather is always on spot for work at my desk!

🍎 Apples WILL be picked and the stand restocked weather permitting… which, for #1 Employee, obviously means when it is NOT raining.

Until then, supplies may be limited today. If you see apples on the stand, grab 'em while they're there!

Apparently Boss Man thinks owning an orchard means somebody actually has to go outside and pick the apples. Seems like poor planning on his part. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸŽπŸ˜‚

What a GREAT first two days of apple season at Kohler Farm! We appreciate everyone who has already stopped by the stand and helped kick off another season.

And because I apparently enjoy creating more work for myself, I took a little stroll through the Honeycrisp rows and found a few that were ready enough to start teasing you all. 😏🍎

HONEYCRISP HAVE MADE AN APPEARANCE!

There are a limited number on the stand right now, freshly picked and just DYING to become your next apple pie, apple crisp…or get eaten in the car before you even make it home. No judgment here.

Honeycrisp are basically the divas of the apple world. They have their own complicated little ripening schedule, demand attention, and apparently believe the entire orchard revolves around them.

But unlike most divas I've come across, I'd LOVE to peel back their layers, sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar, and roast them at 375Β°. πŸ˜‚

That's probably frowned upon with people…but with apples, it's called dessert.

Stop by the Kohler Farm Stand for fresh-picked applesβ€”sometimes we're talking minutes-from-the-tree fresh because apparently Boss Man believes my evenings needed more character-building activities.

🍎 Honeycrisp are limited right now, but more are ripening!
🍎 Other varieties such as Gala & Ginger Golds are available!
🍎 Ida Red. Macintosh, Yellow Delicious and Jona Golds will be mid Sept.
🍎 First come, first served while daily supplies last.

🍎 APPLE SEASON IS KICKING OFF AT KOHLER FARM!

Just when I thought strawberry season was over and I could live a normal life again… HERE COME THE APPLES. πŸ˜‚

Currently available at the farm:

🍏 Ginger Gold β€” Crisp, juicy and sweet with just a little tartness. A great early-season apple for snacking, baking or pretending you're going to bake and then eating them all first.

🍎 Gala β€” Sweet, mild, crisp and basically an all-around crowd pleaser. Great for eating fresh, lunches, snacks and keeping the doctor away… allegedly.

🍎 Fresh-picked apples will be available DAILY on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis while that day's supply lasts.

We will restock the stand each evening because apparently Boss Man won't let me retire from my day job, so somebody has to pick apples after work. πŸ™„

Our self-serve farm stand is open and accepts:
πŸ’΅ Cash
πŸ“ Check
πŸ“± Venmo

$5 1/2 Peck Bag (Holds maybe 8-10 apples)
$10 Peck Bag (Holds roughly 18- 20 apples)
$20 1/2 Bushel Box

** Honeycrisp Apples will be sold for a higher price once available

And yes… SMILE FOR THE CAMERA when you come up to the stand. πŸ“Έ We trust our customers, but apparently the apples enjoy a little security detail.

🍎 COMING SOON as they ripen:
🍯 Honeycrisp ** Will be sold at a higher price than other varieties!
🍎 McIntosh
🍎 Ida Red
🍎 Jonagold
🍏 Yellow Delicious

As always, Mother Nature runs the ripening department, Boss Man runs the farm, and #1 Employee runs around after work wondering why she doesn't have a less jobby job. 🀣

Keep in mind, we don't heavily spray, I don't wash or shine any apples. You will see unpolished, unwaxed, and some blemishes on our apples. But I promise, they will taste delicious!

Stay tuned for updates as more varieties become ready!

🍎 Thank you for supporting Kohler Farm! 🍏
It's always a pleasure to feed you. ❀️

πŸ“THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR BUCKETS

As the 2026 strawberry season comes to an end, we want to take a moment to simply say thank you.

This season was one for the record books, and not necessarily in the way farmers hope for. Like many local strawberry growers, we faced challenge after challenge. An extremely cold spring brought weeks of frost control. Then came lingering cold temperatures and rain throughout May that slowed berry growth and kept us out of the fields when we desperately needed to w**d. Just when we thought Mother Nature had finally made up her mind, she flipped the switch to intense heat that rushed the berries along, only to turn around and send us back into another stretch of cold weather.

For those who don't grow food, it may be hard to imagine just how much weather influences every decision and every berry that makes it to your table. Truthfully, this wasn't an ideal growing season, and many of us farmers found ourselves harvesting crops that didn't always meet the standards we set for ourselves.

But through every challenge, we persevered.

Most importantly, we were blessed with an incredible team of 31 employees who helped make this season possible. From our crew of 21 local teen and young adult berry pickers, 2 field guys, 1 parking attendant, 6 checkout ladies in the barn, and 1 hardworking bucket washer, every single person played an important role in making Kohler Farm successful. They are the faces of our farm. They are the quality behind our farm. And honestly, without them, none of this would be possible.

We also want to thank you, our customers, for your kindness, patience, grace, and support throughout a season that often required unpredictable schedules and day-to-day changes. We know our hours weren't always convenient, our updates sometimes came with little notice, and the season didn't always unfold the way we hoped. Yet you continued to show up, support local agriculture, and trust us to provide the best experience we could.

Farming is not for the faint of heart. It can be exhausting, frustrating, humbling, and incredibly rewarding all at the same time. Despite the challenges, we wouldn't trade it for anything.

Thank you for supporting local agriculture. Thank you for supporting our team. Thank you for supporting Kohler Farm.

We are honored to be your local farmers.

We'll see you this fall for apples at Kohler Farm. 🍎

With heartfelt gratitude,

Patrick & Amber Kohler and the entire Kohler Farm Team β€οΈπŸ“

SATURDAY, JUNE 20th

UPDATE AS OF 9:30AM - UPICK IS STILL OPEN HOPING TO MAKE IT TILL 1PM. HOURLY (ISH) UPDATES . COME NOW

πŸ“πŸ“πŸ“ HOLD MY JAM.. THIS IS IT! πŸ“πŸ“πŸ“
SATURDAY, JUNE 20th

The last hurrah. The final curtain call. The grand finale. The "if you were waiting until next week, you're out of luck" strawberry announcement.

Saturday, June 20th, the patch will open at 7:00 AM for U-PICK ONLY.

We believe we have enough berries left for about 3 to 4 hours of picking in the morning. When they're gone, they're gone, and Mother Nature will officially be telling us to put the berry buckets away for another year. I will give an hourly update in case we need to shut down.

🚫 Pre-Picked berries are officially shut down for the season. NO PRE-PICKED
🚫 No secret stash.
🚫 No hidden field that Boss Man forgot to tell you about.
🚫 No, I still don't know where the big ones are.

What a wild ride this season has been. The berries went faster than my vacation time. Customers rolled in by the hundreds, and somehow Boss Man and his crew in the fields managed to keep the train on the tracks... most days.

To every family who visited, every kid who conducted extensive berry taste-testing while supposedly filling a bucket, every customer who shared a post, bought berries, made jam, baked pies, froze berries, or simply supported our farm... THANK YOU.

As for us I guess we'll now return to our corporate jobs and spend the next few weeks wondering why we're suddenly getting so much sleep and our feet don't hurt!

So set your alarms, and join us for one final adventure down Strawberry Lane.

See you in the patch... one last time in 2026!

πŸ“πŸ“πŸ“ FRIDAY FARM UPDATE JUNE 19THπŸ“πŸ“πŸ“

We're heading into what will likely be the final few days of strawberry season, and let me tell you... Mother Nature has been completely unhinged this year.

One week she had the thermostat cranked up like she was trying to turn Hillsdale County into Florida. The next week she was throwing cold weather at us like she forgot what month it was. Honestly, I don't know what her attitude problem is, and I'm not sure if Father Time can sit her down and explain what season we're supposed to be having.

Regardless of whatever family drama is happening between Mother Nature and the calendar, the patch will OPEN Friday from **7am to 6pm for U-PICK!**

πŸ“ U-Pick: $3 per quart
πŸ“ Pre-Picked: $5 per quart (BERRY LIMITED AFTER 9am)

And when I say limited, I mean limited Pre-pick!

Pre-Picked berries are winding down and becoming about as scarce as my waistline once was. 🀣 I don't like selling berries at a higher price that are smaller and not at the expectations of what Pre-Picked should be. At this point your picking your own quality.

U-Pick will have some great picking these last few days.

πŸ“πŸ“REMINDER! CHECK THE PINNED POST ON OUR FB PAGE FOR FARM DETAILS. ITS IN YOUR BERRY BEST INTEREST TO READ IT. IT CONTAINS PRICES, TIME FOR PRE-PICKED, PAYMENT METHODS AND 18 OTHER BERRY FUN FACTS!

As always, thank you for supporting Kohler Farm through another wild season. We truly appreciate every customer who came out, picked berries, bought berries, shared our posts, laughed at my nonsense, and helped support this crazy farm.

WE STILL HAVE SOME GREAT PICKING LEFT IN US SO GET TO THE PATCH AS OUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED. 3RD PICKING OF THE JEWEL VARIETY AND IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW.....SIZE AT THIS POINT IN THE GAME IS NOT THE OBJECTIVE!
