Job Opportunity!!! We are currently looking for another full time employee to work with us. Job covers a host of potential tasks and agricultural activities that can be challenging and growth promoting. While experience with irrigation and machinery is a strong plus it is not a requirement. If you or anyone you know might be interested in learning more get a hold of us.

It’s a bit cliche and over done I suppose to post the official last pass of 2021 harvest. But man it feels good to be completely done getting the crops in. Plus it was fun chasing all the animals out of the last bit. 3 coyotes and a couple of rabbits.

Corn is flying. Today jumped in with Jordan Traughber. Stratton (our nephew) loved it!!! Corn looks good!

Biggest cake we ever made.😆

New garage coming soon. We will take down an existing garage so the driveway entrance is larger, allowing our bigger tractors and implements to get back to the shop without having to drive through the field.

Yesterday was the boy’s turn to plant their youth project plots. Each got to drive the planter for their spot so that I am not to blame for a bad job. 😎 Keegan, Oliver, Calvin and Trennon have each planted their first Sugarbeet crops.

Some days we are crazy!!!! Drive to Fargo, ND yesterday, yes all in one day. This morning loaded this bad boy up and now trying to get back to Idaho (not all in one day). Crazy!!! And of course the enormous and random statues across ND are interesting.

I was tired, but he insisted we needed to go out and do some work on the planter. Who can say no to cheap farm labor and male bonding time?? Installation of FurrowForce going well. Precision Planting

Such an interesting time of year. A white out or two during the day, just barely over freezing for a hi temp; and yet we push on to the last possible moment to get just that one more acre done. Thanks Scott Butler for the pic as you finished for the day.

Growing in the Magic Valley

Welcome to south central Idaho and the beautiful Magic Valley that we call our mountain home! The Sawtooth Mountains boarder us to the north and the South Hills in the opposite direction. Ancient lava fields have broken down into rich, basalt soil fed by the mountain waters through irrigation. This is the West- after all- and our water is stored and regulated to ensure successful growing seasons for crop and range lands.

On our farm, we grow row crops like corn (field and sweet), sugar beets, carrots for seed; grains such as barley and wheat; and forage like alfalfa hay. A small herd of beef cattle and heifer replacement cows keep our pastures trimmed and the chickens provide eggs and meat for our neighbors and our growing boys.

We feel that soil health is equal to crop health and rotate our crops, apply water with targeted nozzles, and use conservation tillage practices where applicable. We marvel both at the technological advances in our tractors as well as in the seeds we plant. Every progressive application on our farm allows us to contribute more to our nation’s food supply, which is the cheapest, safest, and most versatile of any food chain in the world.

It is an exciting time to be in agriculture and also challenging. Markets, popular opinion, and an anti-science movement make us stretch to educate and cooperate while trying to be successful in our every day. We only get one chance per growing season and we have to make each acre and animal count. Join us in the tractors!
