While living and working in Abu Dhabi, UAE, I have met some am
azing people from around the globe. I was introduced to a traditional custom to eat dates as a hospitality offering. After being schooled on the benefits of dates, I conducted some research on this fruit for myself. I found out that other than having a great taste, there are lots of health benefits from eating dates as well. Dates are known to aid in the digestive process, loaded with vitamins B-6 and potassium and also help to promote a healthy heart. After heart surgery, I realized it was time to start eating healthier and lose the weight I had gained. I started looking for great, all natural foods that I could eat along with dates to help in my pursuit for a new me. With my chef/cooking background and newfound goal to become healthier, I started shopping for wholesome, natural ingredients as opposed to the processed ingredients I had been using in my dishes. With my knowledge of the benefits of dates and my desire to cook and eat healthier, I decided to make my own date snack to eat on my long walks on the corniche in Abu Dhabi. Since I enjoyed the date bars so much, I decided that I wanted to share my delicious snack for everyone to try. It has worked for me in my quest to live a healthier lifestyle, as all the ingredients are natural. I then came up with the idea to start my own date bar company. I later chose the name NEW YORK DATE BAR after speaking with some of my friends in Abu Dhabi who suggested that the name, NEW YORK DATE BAR would give these wonderful bars more global appeal. I then moved back to the United States with my dream and a plan to start my date bar snack food company. My mission is to not only produce a great snack but to expand my dream of building a vast company with a global appeal and diversified product list. With the support of one great person and the assistance of many others, I started my quest to make a great tasting snack bar that promotes great health and tastes delicious first!
