It turns out women can be silver foxes, too! Suddenly it seems doing less in all forms — whether it’s ghost lashes, bare nails and yes, letting your silver roots show — is in vogue. Why? Maybe it’s gauche to look high maintenance when so many people are struggling with inflation or the country is at war. I’ll let the sociologists grapple with that one. All I know is looking a little bit more low-key feels right, right now. Curious? Read my story for O magazine on embracing your silver. We provide lots of tips on how to do it — whether you have a little or a lot of salt in your pepper. We also showcase some awesome products to help with the transition. As for me, I’m grateful to my new colorist KELLY | BALAYAGE | COLORIST | NYC at Maison Seventy Seven in Soho. She’s figured out how to camouflage my greys so I can go longer between appointments and lighten my hair without damaging it — genius!

Hi Everyone! I started a Substack! It’s called the Beauty Sausage and its mission is to provide readers with more transparency about what’s worth it — and what isn’t — when it comes to beauty, aesthetics and wellness. For those of you who know the phrase “how the sausage gets made” it’s a reference to that — beauty and wellness are about looking and feeling your best, but informed consumers need to know that not every procedure and treatment is going to be in your best interest. A little about me: I’m a mom of three. Certified personal trainer. Healthy food advocate and former recipe developer. Veteran beauty and health reporter. I’ve had lasers that have left me with marks and scars on my face, procedures that melted fat I didn’t want to melt, I’ve had hair treatments that burned my hair and injectables that can’t be dissolved and were a mistake. And then I’ve done things that frankly just aren’t worth the cash. I’m going to be sharing what I do love and what I don’t so you can make smarter decisions with your money. 🙌

There is such a thing as smile privilege. And no, it’s not just women who benefit from having attractive smiles. Science tells us that when we smile the people around us also feel the instinct to smile, which has a cascading effect of hormonal stimulation in their bodies — it releases dopamine, serotonin and endorphins, lowering cortisol levels. In short, smile and people will enjoy your company more and want to be around you. But alas, to smile you have to feel confident in your smile. I used to love my smile but then I started grinding my teeth and wore them down, got some bad dental work to repair the grinding which stained, became self-conscious about that… I’m still on a journey to fix my teeth and be confident again in my smile. Writing about veneers for TOWN&COUNTRY helped me feel better about my issues. A lot of people struggle with feeling confident about their teeth and make mistakes with their dental work. The good news? The “new veneers” can be amazingly natural and beautiful. You just have to know who to go to. Just like with facelifts, dentists are taking a much more holistic approach to veneers, looking at the whole face, not just the smile, and making the veneers themselves as natural and undetectable as possible so think grooves, color variations and even chips if you want. The ceramists who work on your teeth are true artists. Thank you to the incredibly passionate and talented doctors who took their time explaining the process and advancements in the field, especially Michael Apa and Dr. Nick Mavrostomos. 😁

According to academic research, the first feature we notice on a person’s face is their eyes. Lashes help frame and bring focus to the eyes and if you have stick-straight, kind of puny lashes like I do then finding products that plump, lengthen and curl your fringes can actually make a big difference. It’s also true, as I learned writing this piece for on the top mascaras for women over 35, that lashes grow thinner and more brittle with age and need mascaras that won’t do damage. (Most of the damage is done during removal.) I’m currently cycling through a few mascaras (pictured: and I also like one from that smells heavenly) at the moment and am also on the hunt for a new under-eye concealer as my favorite one was discontinued. Let me know your favorite mascara! 🤔

Of all the workouts I do, I probably love a good back day more than anything. I think it’s a part of the body women tend to overlook, but it’s integral to creating a V-shape taper that amplifies the perception of a small waist, plus the more muscle you have all over your body — not just on your glutes — the better for your metabolism and hormone stabilization. Plus, I know everyone is obsessed with “longevity” right now and you don’t need expensive peptides that have zero human trials to support their efficacy to accomplish what a good weight training session can do for you. The easiest and cheapest way to support your skin, healthspan and mental health/mood (not to mention confidence) is to go and pick up some weights on the regular. I promise they won’t make you bulky. Your muscles literally secrete happiness molecules when you contract them — it’s not magic, it’s science. ✨ At 48, I’m proud to modeling for , which, like so many of the women’s health magazines has inspired millions of women to prioritize their fitness as an act of self-care and self-love. 💗 If anyone wants advice on how to get started on your fitness journey I’m here for you! 🫶

Have you heard of Boy Kibble, Girl Dinner or Cucumber Salad? If not, you can read all about them in my latest article for the section. What I loved most about this piece was talking to young content creators like , and who are creating accessible, joyful and healthy(ish) recipes for their generation. This is not Martha Stewart cooking, to be sure, but in some ways a return to the way my grandmother cooked — without measuring spoons, or cookbooks. As many of you know I had a meal delivery company called Eat Sunny that sold truly healthy and delicious meals to thousands of customers. I will always be passionate about food, how it nourishes not only our bodies but our spirits and how it has the power to unite us through our differences — so this article was especially fun for me to work on!

I got frenshe’d in the Hamptons and I liked it! You may know as an actor but did you know she’s also been building a lifestyle brand focused on making mood-boosting, elevated fragrance accessible to the masses? Right now it’s only available at Target and the price points on some of these products — magnesium bath salts, perfume oils, candles and lip masks — are pretty extraordinary. I also appreciate how open she is about her struggles with postpartum depression, anxiety and simply trying to do it all as a mom. While products are, at the end of the day, just products, the energy we put behind them and the thoughtfulness with which they are created, matters. My favorite moment of the trip was when we were all gathered around the fire pit making s’mores, talking and sharing, guards down, hearts open. ✨

I love a pretty high heel, but I also need my feet to be in good shape for my workouts and runs. Writing this piece for I learned that there’s actually a lot to look for in a shoe that you spend time in — besides arch support, it shouldn’t bend at the middle, and the toe box should be wide enough not to pinch your toes. There also should be plenty of cushion and shock absorption to protect your feet. If you are looking for a new pair of foot-friendly shoes, I’ve really been loving my new low tops from . Their shoes are made in the USA and podiatrist-approved.

Apparently manicures are not cool anymore. Pricey gel and Russian manicures not only wreak damage on your nails and drain your bank account, but they feel performative. Another interesting idea is that it’s actually much harder to maintain beautiful hands and nails than to fake them with fake nails or gels — kind of like it’s easy to cheat a skinny physique with a GLP1 but if you have muscle on your body that actually signifies health, discipline and the time to dedicate to your well-being. I like getting manicures but I’ve sworn off damaging my nails. My round up on the best nail strengtheners for is pretty timely — for everyone out there looking to jump on the new trend.
