In June, 2014, Happy Herbert's owner, Gary Plutchok, visited Hope North in northern Uganda. Hope North is a nonprofit secondary school that educates and helps heal (through music and art) youth affected by civil war. During the visit he learned that the school's bakery, which prepares and dispenses meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) for the approximately 300 students, had it's roof destroyed by a recent storm. Happy Herbert's donated the funds necessary to repair the roof and add amenities (roof extension to protect the students when raining, a rainwater drainage/collection system and picnic tables). In August, 2017, Gary returned to Hope North to see firsthand how the repairs had improved not only the building but also the lives of the students.

Gary Plutchok, founder of Happy Herbert's traveled to Northern Uganda to visit Hope North, a boarding school for youth affected by civil war. Happy Herbert's helps support this accredited secondary school which offers a free education to children that could not otherwise afford school fees. Forest Whitaker (seen here with Hope North founder Okello Sam) was also at the school which he helps support through his Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative. It was truly amazing to see the resiliency and eagerness to learn that these young people possess.

Susan Sarandon and Mary-Louise Parker met today with Gary Plutchok, owner of Happy Herbert's, at ABC Kitchen (NYC). They discussed Hope North, the Ugandan school that educates and heals young victims of that country's civil war (www.hopenorth.com). Gary was very inspired by how these very beautiful actresses, no matter how busy they may be, remain dedicated to helping worthy organizations such as Hope North. The world definitely needs more people like Susan Sarandon and Mary-Louise Parker! Happy Herbert's happily helps support Hope North.

Gary Plutchok, founder of Happy Herbert's, will be at Whole Foods in Columbus Circle, NYC on Wed., Aug. 7th. from 4-8pm handing out samples of Happy Herbert's Wild Rice Snack Sticks. Gary Plutchok, founder of Happy Herbert's, will be at Whole Foods in Union Square, NYC on Tue., July 16th. from 11am-3pm handing out samples of Happy Herbert's Ancient Grain Pretzels, including the world's only Honey Spelt Pretzels, the world's only pretzels made with khorasan wheat (Kamut brand), and Spelt Pretzels. The first two people to show up at the demo table and sing the Happy Herbert's jingle (you can find it on the bottom of the Entertainment page of our web site) in its entirety will win one free case of the Happy Herbert's pretzel of their choice to be shipped directly to their home. Relatives of Gary and Happy Herbert are not eligible to enter.

World renowned certified health coach, Arielle Fierman, stopped by our recent demo event at Whole Foods Market in Union Square, NYC. She's the founder of Be Well With Arielle (www.bewellwitharielle.com) and if she looks familiar it's because you might have recently seen her on NBC-Today in New York. Turns out she's a fan of our pretzels and often recommends them to her health conscious clients. Thanks Arielle!
