All day long I watch this gentle giant break up fights, scan the skies and find the good snacks. But the time he’s supposed to roost he wants nothing to do with the girls and chooses to sleep on the floor as far away from them as possible!

Got a fairy egg yesterday. It’s always fun to find them. They don’t happen often, so let’s talk about what a fairy egg is.

A fairy egg is a very small egg laid by a chicken, usually without a yolk although occasionally it contains a tiny yolk. They’re also called wind eggs or witch eggs in different regions.

These eggs are typically produced when a young hen is just starting to lay and her reproductive system is still maturing. They can also occur when a mature hen experiences a temporary disruption, such as stress or a minor reproductive irregularity. Mine came from a mature hen.

Fairy eggs are generally much smaller than a normal egg, sometimes only about the size of a large marble. The one I got was a bit bigger than a marble, but not by much. They contains only egg white enclosed by a shell. I didn’t get a picture, but this one was just egg whites. Fairy eggs are safe eat just like a regular egg.

We are battling a snake infestation under our chicken coop. They have been stealing eggs all week. I will be taking eggs to Home Sweet Bakery Saturday morning, but again, the number of eggs available will be very limited and once they are sold, that’s it.

We will be working this weekend to see what steps we can take to eliminate this problem as it is super frustrating. Thanks for understanding.

Headed over to Home Sweet Bakery right now with 3 dozen eggs. Once they have sold, that’s it. There will be no more eggs this week. My girls are in a little slump at the moment! Get them while you can!

A few announcements;

We had an other big egg order this week. We will take what we have to Home Sweet Bakery either Friday or Saturday morning. Once they are sold out, they are gone.

We will no longer be offering washed eggs at no charge. If you want washed eggs, there will be a surcharge for the service. Please message us for more information about this.

Due to the weather, Home Sweet Bakery will be closed today to keep everyone safe.

We appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to see y’all Friday through Sunday! Stay safe, stay dry, and we’ll have the bakery stocked with lots of fresh goodies when we reopen.
