After a long day on our feet, these drives are food for the soul. Lots of time to think about the year, and ponder changes we might make to improve. There are always things to work towards.

We close the year and start looking toward the next; the winter coming and new babies in the spring. We're thankful for this land that we take care of and call home, and these beautiful red cows. And we're thankful for this great life we're living.

Calves are weaned, cows sorted and moved on to fresh grass for winter... whew! We finished just in time to beat the rain shower. We had great help with Casey, Kate and Wyatt this year ... thanks a bunch!

We began a new week of fall work. Brought the first herd of weaned pairs in, sorted off calves, and started the move to winter pastures. Let's hope the remaining week is as nice as this day was. We could use some rain or snow here!

Was a beautiful view ... sitting back and watching the kids lead.

This was the last herd, gathered for fall pre-weaning vaccinations. We'll start again in a few days; bringing the weaned calves home for winter feed, sorting the cow herds, and moving them to their winter pastures. It's been a good year.

Day 2. My creaky knees are talking! This was the biggest day of our fall pre-weaning work ... two more days and we'll be finished

We brought home the 2 bulls in this herd .. easy going boys. We select bulls rated high for calving ease but still excellent growth and carcass merit for our heifers. It's a rare event that we need to assist with calving.
