While most of the world knows this grape as Chenin Blanc, South Africans have called it Steen for generations. In fact, the name became so common that many people believed Steen and Chenin Blanc were two different grapes until researchers proved they were one and the same. 🤓
So why do we call ours Steen? It’s a nod to Dane’s South African roots and the name he grew up with. 🇿🇦
Our Steen is barrel fermented and aged eight months sur lie in French oak, creating a wine with bright acidity, layered texture, and a beautiful balance of fruit and oak.
Whether you know it as Steen or Chenin Blanc, it’s one of our favorite wines to enjoy during a Texas summer. 🍷
📌Fun fact: South Africa is home to more Chenin Blanc plantings than anywhere else in the world, making it the unofficial capital of this remarkable grape.
