A little piece of our family’s history ❤️

This letter is from the catalog of the second annual Oswald Shorthorns sale, held in 1966. What makes it even more special to us is that the sale was held right here on our farm/ranch, in one of the sheds that is still standing today.

It’s pretty amazing to look back at these old pages and realize that the cattle, the people, and the buildings were all part of the same operation that helped shape our family’s history.

The Oswald family was raising and breeding Shorthorn cattle here for generations, and the Shorthorn breed played a very important role in our family’s history and in building the cattle operation we have today.

While our herd today is primarily Angus, there is still Shorthorn influence in our cattle. That piece of our family’s history didn't simply disappear when we moved toward Angus — and that foundation continue to be a part of what we raise today.

We love finding these old pieces of our past and being able to share them. There is something pretty special about standing in a building today and knowing that decades ago, our family was standing in that same building preparing for a Shorthorn sale.

Some things change with time. Some things remain standing. And some things are carried forward in the cattle themselves. ❤️
