We know we’re a day late celebrating National Day of the American Cowboy… but that’s because we were busy doing cowboy things around the homestead.
Around here, the animals don’t know it’s a holiday. Fences still need mending, hay still needs moving, projects still need finishing, and chores don’t take a day off.
For us here at H&M Homestead, the spirit of the American cowboy has been part of who we are for most of our lives. And yes, that often includes the hat and the boots. But more importantly, it’s about the values they represent: hard work, resilience, integrity, self-reliance, and a deep respect for the land, livestock, and the people around you.
The cowboy has always been more than someone on horseback.
It’s the person who gets up before sunrise because the animals are depending on them. It’s fixing what breaks instead of walking away. It’s putting in an honest day’s work, lending a hand to a neighbor, and keeping your word.
Whether you work a sprawling cattle ranch, a small family homestead, or simply strive to live by those principles every day, the cowboy way is still alive and well.
Today, we’re proud to celebrate the men and women who continue to carry that legacy forward.
