Here we show you how easy it is to treat a hive with Oxalic Acid strips. These strips last 45-60 days before they need to be replaced. Varroa (destructor) mites are the #1 killer of honeybees in the USA. Any questions. Hit the comments or message us.

🐝 The Heart of the Hive: The Queen Bee 👑

If you’re just starting your beekeeping journey, understanding the queen is the ultimate key to a thriving hive.

A healthy queen can lay 1,500 to 2,000 eggs a day—roughly her own body weight!

She only mates during one brief period early in life, storing enough s***m to fertilize eggs for the rest of her 3-to-5-year lifespan.

Queens are created by workers. Larvae fed exclusively on royal jelly will develop into queens instead of workers.

Tips for New Beekeepers

Look for the Pattern: You don't always need to spot the queen to know she’s thriving. Newly laid eggs, larvae and a solid, tightly packed pattern of capped brood means she’s doing her job.

Queen Spotting: Look for her longer, unstriped abdomen and slower movements. (Bonus tip: Buying a marked queen makes this way easier!)

Find a Mentor: Lean on local beekeeping associations. Having an experienced pair of eyes look at a frame with you is the fastest way to build confidence.

Welcome to the craft! Comment pictures of your queens or frames of brood !

🐝 Hive Inspections! 🐝

There is nothing quite like cracking open a hive on a warm, sunny day and hearing that steady, calm hum of a strong hive.

For anyone who started their beekeeping journey this spring, we know that first solo hive inspection can feel intimidating. You’re trying to remember everything from the books you've read, the YouTube videos you've watched, manage your smoker, and not drop a frame full of bees!

New Beekeepers, we’ve Got Your Back! 👋

If you’re feeling unsure about what you’re seeing, don't sweat it.

Whether you're wondering:
"Is this drone brood or worker brood?"
"What does a healthy laying pattern look like?"
"How do I spot the queen without staring at a frame for 20 minutes?"
"Is it time to add another box?"
"What do I do if I squash my queen?"

Drop your questions in the comments below! Feel free to post photos of your frames if you need a second pair of eyes to help decode what’s happening inside your hive.

Let's keep those hives healthy and thriving together. Happy beekeeping! 🌸🍯
