Why does it seem like rabbit breeders are always aggressively joyous about culling???

Firstly, I get super duper excited when I see homesteader actively and intentionally culling. Kudos for having goals and following through🙌🏻

Secondly, and I know this one is hard for folks, so say it with me.
CULLING DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN KILL!
If you need a refresher, I’ve compiled a post for you.

So let’s talk some facts.
Rabbits breed very often, every 30-32 days, naturally. Their litters tend to be on the larger side compared to most livestock. This is anatomy and physiology of them being the ultimate prey animal, which means we harvest meat from them quickly. A rabbit is table ready in 8-12 weeks, ultimately why the rabbit breeders you are following, are harvesting meat in your newsfeed regularly.
That is a joyous part of breeding.
Better quality rabbits being bred towards their breed Standard of Perfection is the goal. You should be aggressively culling in this aspect. Don’t ever let anyone tell you you’re being too aggressive with your goals.
The better type, the better meat yield, the less feed and resourcing you’re forcing into subpar stock.
I take aggressively culling as a compliment, not a dig.
Thank you for recognizing my hard work!
And lastly, yes, pages are monetized. You have to stand out in a sea of slop to engage an audience. Sometimes that’s with photos and other times that’s with provoking captions.
I assure you I don’t run fast to Facebook, the trolls always seem to find me…..

Great news for lamb lovers! 🐑

The USDA’s latest dietary guidelines put a spotlight on nutrient-dense proteins — and guess who’s at the top of the list? That’s right… American Lamb!

Not only is lamb delicious, but it’s also packed with nutrients that help you feel your best. Here’s why we think lamb deserves a spot in your meal plan:

🥩 Protein Powerhouse — Lamb delivers high-quality protein that helps build and repair muscle and keeps you full and energized throughout the day. A 3-oz serving provides nearly half your daily protein needs!

🧠 Vitamin B12 & Nutrients Galore — Lamb gives you a good dose of vitamin B12 (important for energy and brain function), zinc, selenium, iron, and B6 — all essential for immune health and everyday vitality.

❤️ Lean & Heart-Smart — Many cuts of American Lamb — like leg, loin, and shoulder — fit the USDA definition of lean, meaning they’re flavorful without weighing you down. It even contains heart-healthy monounsaturated fats (the same kind you find in olive oil!).

Simply put? Lamb isn’t just tasty — it’s nutrient-rich, versatile, and a great way to support your health goals while still eating delicious food!

Bulls should look like bulls. Cows should look like cows.

In functional cattle, s*x character matters.

A bull’s job is power and performance. He should be:
• Thick and heavily muscled
• Bold through his shoulder and hip
• Masculine in his head and neck
• Built to transmit muscle and growth

A cow’s job is different. She should be:
• Feminine and refined
• Soft made with capacity
• Built for longevity, fertility, and maternal function

When bulls start looking like cows, or cows start looking like bulls, we lose function, efficiency, and purpose. Masculinity in bulls and femininity in cows isn’t about looks for the sake of looks—it’s about biology, balance, and long-term productivity.

Seedstock cattle should be setting the standard.
