Whew! Itās been a challenging and HOT July at the shelterāin the last 2 weeks alone, over 189 animals have come in, 52 of which are dogs, and 24 cats from the same home, all of whom have medical issues. And now we are in a major pickle: we are completely out of dog kennelsānot a single one is openāand at any time, new dogs who need us might arrive.
Our team is working hard to promote and care for each animal and create room where we canābut weāve hit a wall. We need help. Today, if at all possible.
Hereās how you can free up kennel space immediately:
š§”Adopt: Adoption fees are reduced dramatically thru 7/19 thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundationās Empty the Shelters event. Every adoption includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccines. View the animals at www.harfordshelter.org.
š§”Foster: We urgently need fosters for medium and large adult dogs. Even short-term fostering saves lives by freeing up kennel space. If you have room for a crate and a new friend, please email [email protected].
š§”Rescue Partners: We are calling on all rescue partnersāhelp us pull animals immediately. If you have room, email [email protected].
š§”Volunteer: Can you do laundry? Are you willing to clean kennels, wash bowls, sweep and mop? If youād like to pitch in to care for the animals, email [email protected].
š§”Donate: We are most in need of large wire crates, laundry detergent & dryer sheets, dog treats, and paper towels. The cost of caring for a shelter full of animals is sometimes overwhelmingāfood, medical care, A/C and electricity.
