Alpacas are a pack animal!

Spring Question 🌿 Can I keep just one llama or alpaca?

Short answer… no.

As everything comes to life in April, it is a reminder that connection matters, especially for camelids. Llamas and alpacas are deeply social herd animals. Keeping just one can lead to loneliness, stress, and behavioural issues… and that is simply not good welfare.

They thrive in company. Always keep at least two… ideally three… so they can interact, bond, and feel secure in their environment.
