What are you doing Sunday?

Swing by Más o Menos. Yeah, we'll be there with a fire under the plancha, serving our best, of course, but we'll be joined by the crew at Desert Chrome, who'll be dancing to what local band The Bad Habits lays down for them.

That's a three-for-one deal right there.

We'll be serving up tacos and salads this weekend at not one but two (!) spots in town!

Saturday, find us at the 29 Palms Farmers Market, 8AM to 1PM. It's going to be a beautiful day in the mid-80s — ideal conditions to spend time in at the market!

The next evening, 5PM to 9PM, we'll be popping up with our pals at Más o Menos again. Order a Sunny Delinquent from the stellar team behind the bar, grab a taco you haven't tried yet, and watch the sun set from the breezy comfort of the patio.

If you don't see us at one, see us at the other!

Basically, we're doing a weekend residency at Más o Menos.

Swing by Saturday around noontime to catch the Más Drag, Más Brunch event, hosted by Pixie Dot!

We'll be on premises, serving seasonal tacos and salads.

Then, Sunday, we're setting up for dinner, 5PM to 9PM.

If you don't catch us at one, catch us at the other!

See y'all there!

This morning, we discovered that our little unassuming stand at 29 Palms Farmers Market was nominated as Best Taco Place in the 2025 Morongo Basin Best of the Best awards. Needless to say, this is a very cool piece of news to come across!

If you haven't done so already, take a couple of minutes to see which of your favorite places were nominated in each category and a cast a vote for them! You can vote once per day until October 1!

And — of course — if we happen to be your favorite place to get a taco, we'd certainly appreciate your vote:

After a much-needed week off, we're back at 29 Palms Farmers Market tomorrow — the usual 8–1PM window — and excited to feed y'all!

By the way, did you know that we make and sell really tasty hot sauces?

One of them — habanero with roasted carrots, roasted fennel, and cara cara oranges — has been at SUN OF THE DESERT for a while.

Tomorrow we'll have two options:

1) habaneros and guajillos with roasted garlic and local citrus blossom honey, which is our good-on-everything sauce;

2) and then green chiles — serranos, jalapeños, poblanos — with burnt green onion, tomatillo, and persian cucumber, which is our sauce for breakfast and veggies!

Ask for samples. If you like 'em, bring a bottle or two home!

Carne deshebrada.

Shredded beef.

We added this to our taco menu a couple weeks ago, and, thanks to y'all, it's been selling out at our events since.

Cured in salt and local honey, then cold-smoked with mesquite and pecan, and then braised with aromatics until it falls apart . . . and then finished with black garlic . . . and then paired with a whole-lemon crema to cut into its richness . . . and then topped with a peppery plum salsa, this is something we're keeping on the menu for a while.

In fact, it's on the menu tomorrow, at the Twentynine Palms farmers market, from 8AM to 1PM.

See you there!

Hi, all!

We will not be attending the farmers market tomorrow — we'll be back the following weekend — but you can still find us posted up at Rediscover29's Sunday Night Swim event.

Predictably, this adults-only pool party's on Sunday (6PM to 10PM) at Luckie Park. We'll be serving our stacked menu, per usual; and beyond food, you'll have your choice of beers, hard seltzers, and spiked coconut waters available from 29 Palms Beer Co., Scorpion Lollipop, and Sunboy, respectively.

You can buy a ticket on the official Rediscover29 website — rediscover29.com — or at the door. An advance ticket through the website yields a complimentary drink, if you're into that kind of thing!

See you Sunday!

New menu? New menu!

Say hi to our Moroccan chicken taco: ultra-tender dark meat, big flavors (think cinnamon, clove, ginger, more), and an incredibly herbaceous sauce!

Next, (because plenty of y’all asked if we had plans for a beef taco), we’ve got a beef taco on the board (!): smoky shredded chuck roast, a bright and dead-simple crema, and a super-peppery plum salsa, compliments of Burlap & Barrel Single Origin Spices's grapefruit-y wild Timur pepper. We're hoping this one satisfies those of you who came to the market looking for more robust options.

Lastly, the third entry in our salad series, esquites and pearl couscous dressed in an avocado-forward green goddess, mixed with a toasted pepita crumble. This is a winning complement to our sweeter stone fruit salad!

These — and the other untouched faves — will be available tomorrow, July 19, at the Twentynine Palms farmers market.

See you there!

We've got a busy couple of weekends upcoming!

In addition to our regular spot Saturdays at the Twentynine Palms farmers market, we will be popping up at Corner 62 for author Ivy Pachoda's Ecstasy book tour stop at Hi Desert Times, this Saturday, July 19, from 7–9PM.

There will be a reading from the new book, a conversation hosted by Alexandra Martinez (you may know her as the brains behind Galaxy Pies!), and, of course, a book signing.

This is not a ticketed event, but it is first-come-first-served.

The following weekend, Sunday, July 27, from 6–10PM, we will be poolside at Luckie Park for Rediscover29's Sunday Night Swim.

This is a ticketed event — but a ticket will unlock access to the pool, an array of adult bevvies, a deejay, a cannonball contest, and more.

Better yet: If you purchase your ticket online, you'll earn yourself a complimentary drink!

We're visiting folks up north this week — where temperatures are soaring into the mid-70s! — and, as a result, we'll be absent from the Twentynine Palms farmers market tomorrow, July 12.

We'll be back the following weekend, July 19, though, with a few new menu items to share with y'all both at the market, 8AM to 1PM, and at Corner 62, 7PM to 9PM, for the Hi Desert Times-sponsored Q&A and reading by Ivy Pochoda, author of the new novel Ecstasy. This is a free event, but seats are FCFS, so be sure to swing by with time to spare!

If you can't see us at one, see us at the other. We'll be glad to be back home and serving you our best.

So . . . Let's talk about the vegan taco, yeah?

Escalivada is a traditional dish from Catalonia, Spain, featuring roasted eggplant, bell pepper, and onion — sometimes tomato, sometimes garlic. It depends on whose house you're eating it in.

Our escalivada taco follows tradition, but, for the sake of texture, we swap out eggplant for zucchini. That gets paired with roasted bell pepper and roasted onion — roasted until a little char shows up — and seasoned simply with salt and Aleppo chile.

It comes on a blue-corn tortilla with toum and our crunchy, nutty (but nut-free!) salsa macha.

Try it. We won't tell your boyfriend.

On the menu at the Twentynine Palms farmers market, July 5, 8AM–1PM.

What have we got here?

On the left is our köfte special, something customers have been buying more and more of in the past couple of weeks.

It includes three ground-beef meatballs seasoned with our very own baharat — cinnamon, black urfa chile, cured sumac, and a few other spices — on a bed of tabbouli. We top it with ezme — a salsa made of roasted red peppers and pomegranate molasses — whole-lemon crema, and pistachio dust.

And on the right is our newest salad. On Saturday morning, before the market opens, we visit the produce stands, select and slice the ripest stone fruits — apricots, plums, nectarines, peaches — marry them with lightly dressed arugula, and finish them off with an in-house black-plum chamoy and a dukkah made of bee pollen, lavender, pistachio, and more.

Our menu's always evolving. Come check it out at the farmers market in Twentynine Palms!
