Poteet under the Stars cookoff was another hot one from the temps all the way to competition. Congrats to Melissa and the City of Poteet for another fun filled event. We had another solid cook again this weekend and the consistency is paying off and letting us get in to our groove. We were happy with our turn ins again this weekend and the judges liked them too giving us the chance to walk three times.

Beans - 3rd for the Buckle
Chicken -11th
Ribs - 8th
Pork - 29th 🤷🏼‍♂️
Brisket -8th
Giving us enough points to go 9th overall out of 38 teams.

But the highlight of this weekend was not our game, it was passing along our cooking passion to the next generation.
Thank you to 2 Gingos Chupacabra BBQ seasonings for sponsoring the kids cook. We had two littles come out to cook this weekend, Jordyn and Rylie.
Jordyn walked with a solid 8th place and Rylie stole the show, the buckle and the $$$ with a huge 1st place.

We can’t talk enough about stop beating your head against the wall and walking away wondering what to do next

Friday afternoon we rolled into Hondo to the Jerry Busby Memorial Cookoff at the golf course and it was hot from the temps to the teams. As the rest of the Smoke Showing team showed up we all commented on the caliber of cooks that were there. Our first hiccup came Friday night when we went to get the beans ready and the pot insert was not in the pot, fine I guess we’re old schooling this weekend and broke out the camp stove. We finished our Friday prep and visited with a few friends. Saturday morning started and we have our rhythm rolling. We are still learning and getting the new process down, but it’s going great. Pits ran flawlessly, every protein was tracking then the second hiccup hits. We were in a finish process on one pit and didn’t have room to put the pork back in after being wrapped, luckily everything else was wrapped so it shared some time with the brisket. We were extremely excited about everything we boxed up and that’s when we got nervous… the cook was too smooth, we loved everything, the competition was fierce, we kinda joked at camp while trying to cool down about we would be happy to get a walk or two. Right before awards a mini cool front blew in and cooled it down nicely with the fresh smell of rain in the distance. Now it’s time to see how the Judges liked what we turned in.
Dessert was 7th out of 25,
The pot-less beans 🤣hit 2nd out of 32.
Chicken 7th
Ribs 32nd
pork 22nd
Brisket 🥇1st place
6th place overall out of 47 of the best cookers in the state!

Regi-Q BBQ class is a complete game changer when it comes to bridging the gap from watching awards to walking during awards. Go take the damn class!!

It definitely is way too HOT!!! The pits ran flawlessly today and we were happy with all of our turn ins. Let’s hope the judges agreed with us. Awards at 5:30 this evening.

A few months ago we dusted the 4”layer of dust off the trailer and put the drums back to work. Yesterday we headed out to Seguin to the SS American Memorial Foundation located at the Lazy U Ranch Seguin TX Fire Cracker Cookoff. Our cook went really well and we were happy with every box we turned in. Safe to say the judges liked them too, except Pork judge 3……
We rolled back home tonight with a
2nd place Regi-Q BBQ flock&swine Chicken Banner, 11th place Ribs
11th place pork
11th place Brisket
10th place over all of 26 heavy cookers.

Congrats to everyone who made the walk today.
